Electrical Engineer

Part of the Alvest group, world leaders in Aircraft Ground Support Equipment (GSE), TLD Powervamp design and develop a range of high-performance power systems for the Aviation, Marine and Military markets with a global client base.
The Specialist Engineer - Electrical is responsible for all aspects of the electrical design of Industrial Ground Support Equipment such as Ground Power Units which utilise a battery power as an energy source.
This position includes system architecture, electrical control system, and harnesses design, development and documentation. It may require some control software design but these skills can be taught in the job.
A successful Electrical Engineer will be able to conceptualise solutions to technical problems, work independently to generate the necessary drawings and design documents, and communicate technical issues effectively with all levels of management.
Essential duties and responsabilities :
• Layout of the Electrical system architecture for new product development and prototyping.
• Definition of the control system architecture for new product development using basic control system theories.
• Selection and application of electromechanical control devices for product development such as contactors, relays, switches, circuit breakers, transformers, and power supplies.
• Creation and maintenance of electrical documentation, including schematics, wiring diagrams, wiring harnesses, cable assemblies, and electrical cabinet bills of materials.
• Creation of test plan, and first power up instructions for the new product developed.
• Close support of first product start up with testing team at the factory, and early production runs of equipment.
• Interact with product engineer, and other disciplines to ensure clean integration of work into the machine.
• Cost Control to Design to Cost (DTC) objectives through proper component selection and coordination with Product Manager.
• Other assignments as designated by immediate and/or higher supervisor/s.
We are looking for :
• BSC Degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent.
• Experience with industrial type equipment and their control systems, power supply and conversion or with battery management system.
• Capable of schematic layout, wiring sizing, and control cabinet layouts.
• Electrical schematics using (preferably SEE, E-Plan or AutoCad).
• Harnesses drawing ideally with vehicle harnesses experience.
• Previous PLC programming experience preferred but not mandatory.
• Ability to utilize Microsoft Office to create documents, spreadsheets, and presentations as needed to fulfil role.
• Familiarity of working within UL, NEC, and CE compliance design rules preferred.
• Automotive type wiring harness design, and layout experience is a plus but not mandatory.
