Milton Keynes, United Kingdom Matrix Full time
Job description

About Us:

Our passion and purpose at Matrix is to ‘Connect people to work’.

We specialise in the procurement of temporary, interim, and permanent staffing and we do this through our people, processes and technology that sit between recruitment agencies and our customers, i.e., the organisations looking to recruit.

We aren’t a recruitment agency ourselves, but our model is known as a vendor neutral solution in that we are not aligned with a single recruitment agency but work with 2000+ across the UK.

OUR IMPLEMENTATION TEAM

We have an Implementation Team whose whole focus is to on-board new customers. These projects are large and complex, but we have over 100 of them under our belt.

You will be working with customers that spend tens of millions of pounds through our platform. Customers include some of the biggest councils / local authorities in the UK, several private sector businesses including some with over 100,000 staff.

These are complex and big projects, but they are exciting too

THE ROLE – PROJECT MANAGER

We’re looking for a Project Manager within the Implementation team.

We have some very exciting projects happening at this very moment and are looking for experienced Project Manager to help lead the team to success.

What this means is that though you must be well versed in running a project plan, Gantt chart, risks, issues, decision logs, etc., they really are the hygiene factors. The really important elements for this role are your relationship building, communication skills, confidence, and ability to influence and direct the customer along with managing delivery of tasks across all internal Matrix contributors. In summary you might well have formal project management qualifications, e.g., Prince2, Agile, etc. but having those alone won’t make you successful in the role. The capabilities mentioned above are what will really make the difference.

The team currently consists of other Project Managers and Project Support Officers who won’t have a management reporting line to you, but part of this role will be to provide mentoring, support, etc. as needed. We work in a very collaborative manner. When you are running an implementation though undoubtedly one of the Support Officers will be working alongside you to help you deliver,

The success of projects is measure in several ways. Of course, it’s about delivering on time and to budget, but it’s very much about ensuring that customers are well prepared for using our systems and processes, i.e., change management. Our success is really measured by our customers success, and this will come at some point after go-live, i.e. is the customer gaining the benefits (cost savings, role fulfilment rates, visibility of spend) that they expected at the outset.

As mentioned, to be successful you will need to mobilise and work across Matrix with several internal teams, e.g., Sales, Business Management, Customer Success, Finance, Technology, Supplier Engagement, etc. It’s important to note that with so many implementations to-date, these teams know its critical they support the Implementation team.

A key requirement will be the need to travel to customers sites as needed during the implementation, this could mean being in Plymouth one week and Leeds the next. As you’d expect we work in a hybrid fashion (from home, Milton Keynes, etc), but being face-to-face with customers is incredibly valuable in relationship building. So expect to spend ~1 day every two weeks on a customer site.

And of course, if you already work in the recruitment sector and even more so in a neutral vendor model that would be incredibly beneficial and we’d really like to talk to you, but it’s not essential.
