This role is critical in supporting Ringway’s environmental ambitions, improving sustainability culture, and ensuring the delivery of impactful initiatives across the highways service.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and maintain the sustainability strategy and delivery plan for the Surrey Highways division, aligned with environmental and social objectives.
  • Create and deliver training and communication materials to embed sustainability principles across the service, including carbon reduction, circular economy practices, biodiversity protection, pollution prevention, and water conservation.
  • Manage tools and processes to monitor and report on sustainability initiatives and performance, ensuring compliance with legal and policy requirements.
  • Work closely with clients, communities, and supply chain partners to implement sustainable methods, materials, and processes.
  • Identify opportunities for continuous improvement and innovation in sustainability practices within the highways service.
  • Act as the sustainability lead in client meetings, Divisional progress reviews, and wider group initiatives to ensure sustainability objectives are met.
  • Champion a sustainability-focused culture, driving awareness and engagement at all levels of the organisation.

About You:

We’re looking for an experienced and motivated sustainability professional with:

  • A degree in business, environmental engineering, or sustainability (preferred but not essential).

  • Strong client management and performance management skills, particularly on sustainability issues.
  • A collaborative mindset with the ability to work effectively across teams and with external stakeholders.
  • Exceptional organisational, analytical, and communication skills.
  • Proficiency in computer applications and sustainability monitoring tools.

Desirable Qualifications and Skills:

  • Diploma in Quality Management or Lean Practitioner certification.
  • Knowledge of highways or infrastructure industries.

What We Offer:

  • An opportunity to shape and drive sustainability initiatives for a flagship contract.
  • A collaborative and supportive work environment.
  • The chance to work on high-impact projects that benefit both the community and the environment.

Additional Information:

This role is primarily based in Surrey but may require occasional travel across the southeast region.

If you’re driven to make a difference and have the skills and experience to deliver impactful sustainability strategies, we’d love to hear from you.
