Based in Lichfield, we aim to provide top-tier manufacturing solutions to various markets. The General Manager will be instrumental in refining operational processes and leading the strategic expansion into multiple markets, such as the automotive and aerospace sectors. This role is pivotal in driving AIM’s business towards optimal performance and sustainability, directly reporting to the Board of Directors.


Responsibilities:

  • Operational Leadership and Process Improvement: Oversee all CNC machining operations to ensure efficiency and accuracy by implementing cutting-edge manufacturing practices and lean methodologies. Regularly assess operational processes and adjust workflows, space usage, and resource allocation.
  • Strategic Planning and Implementation of Industry 4.0: Develop a comprehensive strategy for entering the various markets. Lead the strategic planning process, setting clear, actionable market entry and growth goals. Spearhead the adoption of digital technologies and automated systems across manufacturing operations. Develop strategies to utilise software-driven controls and data analytics to enhance production capabilities.
  • Certification and Compliance Management: Direct the acquisition of crucial aerospace certifications such as AS9100. Manage compliance with all relevant industry standards to ensure operational processes and products meet stringent aerospace requirements.
  • Leadership in a Technical Environment: Manage and expand a team skilled in CNC machining and digital manufacturing. Foster a culture of innovation and continuous learning to keep pace with technological advancements.
  • Financial Oversight and Cost Management: Oversee financial operations, including budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning. Control budgets and manage resources effectively, ensuring the financial sustainability of the operations. Make decisions based on data-driven insights and strategic forecasting.
  • Business Development and Stakeholder Engagement: Identify and develop new business opportunities. Maintain and enhance relationships with key stakeholders, including customers, suppliers, and regulatory bodies, to support business growth and operational compliance.
  • Quality Control Systems: Implement and oversee a robust quality control system that meets both customer expectations and regulatory standards. Drive continuous improvement initiatives that foster innovation and maintain competitive advantage.


Professional Skills and Qualifications:

  • Strong practical experience in managing CNC machining operations in a manufacturing environment.
  • Demonstrated experience in integrating Industry 4.0 technologies within manufacturing settings.
  • Familiarity with SC21 and its requirements, with a proven track record of maintaining high-quality standards.
  • Strong leadership capabilities and the ability to manage teams in a technical and evolving environment.
  • Excellent problem-solving, organisational, and communication skills.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Engineering, or related field will be beneficial.


Hours and Environment

  • Thirty-eight hours a week, Monday to Thursday, 8:30 am to 5:30 pm (with a 30-minute lunch break).
  • Fridays, 8:30 am to 12:30 pm.
  • Standard 21 days of annual leave plus statutory bank holidays.
