The following information provides an overview of the skills, qualities, and qualifications needed for this role.

Location: Must be based in Southampton (if you do not live here please do not apply)

Experience: Mid/Senior Level - At least 5 years of experience in the Marine Industry (you must have extensive contacts in the marine industry, like cruise lines, ship superintendents, shipyards, yachts, etc)

As a Sales & Business Development Manager you will be responsible for the sales process from implementing the sales strategy to contacting clients, qualifing new opportunities and new clients, preparation, approach, presentation and follow up.

Qualifications needed for sales manager for marine industry:

- A bachelor degree in engineering, marketing, business or other

- Long proven experience in the field and lots of contacts in the maritime industry - most important

- Has good analytical, interpersonal and communication skills.

- Commercial awareness and strong negotiation skills.

- Experience selling technical services, projects or similar in the industry

- Problem-solving and analytical skills to interpret sales performance and market trend information. Experience in developing marketing and sales strategy.

- Able to work independently and meet deadlines.

- Ability to develop good relationships with customers, to conduct in-depth research.

- May require travel aboard for business and customer meeting.

Key Responsibilities:

- Identify, develop, and expand customer base in the different verticals in the maritime industry

- Understanding technical product specifications and technical services for communicating the same to the customers.

- Enter and maintain data on all leads, opportunities, and sales

- Organize customer visits and conduct presentations regarding product and services

- Prepare cost breakdowns to be used in proposals, maintain a database of previous proposal costs and provide cost analysis

- Generate sales forecast, sales reports

- Follow up with potential leads into sales.

- Communicate with the Shipping Industries Associations and organizing sales visits attending trade exhibitions, conferences, and technical meetings.

- Increase sales and ‘conversions’ to increase your overall turnover.

- Strong organization skills and management capabilities as well as multi-functional knowledge in operations and technical and sales.

  • - Customer relations building and manage customers’ expectation by conducting regular visits and facilitating exchange correspondence.
