As a Technical Designer you will be working within the busy Technical Department as a part of a talented team of Advisors and Managers. You will be directly responsible for coordinating all technical drawing and design aspects within the team, demonstrating excellent attention to detail, high levels proficiency in AutoCAD, and proven design skills on a variety of construction elements.

The role is primarily office-based at either our Tonbridge or Leeds offices, but will also involve a requirement for both on-site and external design meetings.

 

Salary: £25k+ per annum, dependent on experience.

Location: Office-based in Leeds, Yorkshire.

Contract: Full-time, permanent.

Newton Waterproofing Systems is a leading independent supplier of structural waterproofing systems to the UK construction industry. In our close-knit and knowledgeable team, we are looking for a team player who will take ownership of their role in order to deliver to tight deadlines. This includes the following responsibilities:

Responsibilities:

  • Provide bespoke technical drawings and assist in producing specifications for clients.
  • Manage the modification of technical drawings as and when they need to be updated. 
  • Take and develop project design enquiries from conception to fruition.
  • Assist our team of Technical Advisors and Managers who provide first line technical/customer service to incoming queries - via phone and email.
  • Manage the distribution of technical drawings to external hosts and ensure as new products and systems are introduced that they are up to date on external and internal platforms including our company website.
  • Create bespoke waterproofing design packs for use in tender documentation.
  • Attend technical design meetings with clients and Technical Managers to provide design assistance and to create specifications based on the meetings.
  • Identify design training needs for the technical team and coordinate the provision of training for the team.
  • Provide general assistance to Senior Management as and when required.
  • Instil best practice in the technical department design processes.

Skills and Experience - Essential:

  • Highly efficient in the use of AutoCAD and 3D design packages.
  • A design-based degree or equivalent qualification.
  • Proficient in understanding complex technical drawings.
  • Demonstrable knowledge of the construction process.

Skills and Experience - Desirable:

  • Knowledge of concrete technology and structural waterproofing.
