The Role

Imperial Brands is recruiting an Electronic Development Manager to join the team in Liverpool. Working within the Device Development Team and reporting to the Head of Device Development. This role will suit a highly experienced technical expert with the ability to lead cross functional technical teams.

If successful, you will manage a team of Subject Matter Experts to deliver New Product Development projects within our innovation function. The role plays a key part in device development for all new product development projects.

Principal Accountabilities

  • Leading a team of Device Development Engineers to develop and deliver prototypes and technical solutions for innovation projects
  • Provide insight and recommendations on key industry and technology developments to maintain competitiveness and efficiencies
  • Developing innovative concepts to solve engineering challenges.
  • Managing the prototype design, iterative development and testing activities to validate these concepts leveraging the capabilities of the team (mechanical/electronic engineers and technicians)
  • Collaborate with multifunctional counterparts to deliver fit for purpose propositions and ensure technical requirements are clearly understood
  • Spearhead continual improvements to ensure design procedures are cost effective and aligned to business / product requirements
  • Responsible for the maintenance of design and standard procedures specific to electronic design and in particular meet the needs of product specification regulatory and industry standards
  • Develop strong relationships with strategic suppliers and work with partners to provide innovative concept generation to solve engineering challenges

Skills and Experience Required

  • Degree in Electronics Engineering (or equivalent)
  • Practical (hands on) experience in electro-mechanical workshop environment - assembly, test equipment, etc
  • Creation of technical documentation and test reports, etc
  • Line management of technical subject matter experts
  • Product development and delivery
