Reporting to the Head of Infrastructure and Security the IT DBA will be responsible for the performance, integrity, and security of our databases. They will ensure that data remains consistent across the database, implement data security measures, and optimize database performance. The ideal candidate will bring extensive experience and a proven track record in database administration. Strong technical skills, excellent communication, and the ability to collaborate across teams are essential for success in this role.

Key responsibilities

  • Install and maintain database software.
  • Create, manipulate and manage databases.
  • Develop data models and implement data dictionaries.
  • Monitor database performance and tune accordingly.
  • Implement data security measures and perform regular security audits.
  • Backup, restore and manage replication of databases as needed.
  • Troubleshoot database issues and perform problem resolution.
  • Collaborate with developers, business users and external suppliers to facilitate and optimize database queries.
  • Document database configurations, processes, and procedures.
  • ​Provide input to decisions around database hosting and infrastructure.
  • Stay up-to-date with the latest database technologies and trends.

Qualifications and skills

  • Proven experience as a Database Administrator or similar role.
  • Strong knowledge of database management systems especially Oracle 19C+ , Microsoft SQL Server 2014+
  • Proficiency in SQL and database query optimization.
  • Experience with database security and backup procedures.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Relevant certifications (e.g., Oracle Certified Professional) are a plus.
  • Experience in Database containerisation (desired, not essential)
  • Experience administering Linux operating systems (desired, not essential)
