- Formulating novel, disruptive, dynamic, customer centric and technically advanced bath, body, skincare, haircare and colour cosmetic products for UK and Global markets in line with current Cosmetic Regulations
- Building relationships with suppliers and utilising their expertise & products to develop innovative formulations
- Building strong relationships with customers, showcasing our technical expertise
- Providing technical support and inspiration across the business
- Working with and mentoring other members of the product development laboratory team
- Keeping up to date with trends in the cosmetic market and beyond. Reporting these trends to the wider team
- Lead monthly innovation presentations to NPD team
- Implement effective scale up process from laboratory to manufacturing
Experience and Qualifications
- A Batchelor’s or Master’s Science degree or a SCS Diploma in Cosmetic Science
- Minimum 2 years experience in Cosmetic Formulation
- A proven track record of developing safe, stable, compliant and innovative cosmetic and personal care products
- A passion for the Health and Beauty industry
- A strong understanding of the UK and EU cosmetics regulatory landscape, especially cosmetic product claims and labelling requirements. Global understanding of cosmetic regulations would be beneficial
- Great communication skills and the confidence to take the lead in projects
- A keen attention to details and accuracy
- Effective time management skills to deliver against the NPD process
- A desire for knowledge and self-development– from the latest beauty trends, what’s new in raw material science to the latest changes in regulations
- Good standard of written and spoken English language, mathematics and computer literacy
- Able to create an open and collaborative environment to work in, be flexible, adaptable and have a willingness to learn
- Able to navigate and negotiate around obstacles, does not shy away from difficult conversations, solution focused
- Hands on practical approach, willing to get ‘stuck in’ when necessary
