What’s the purpose of role?

You will be a key member of the dnata Retail Finance team and be an integral in the processes underpinning the Managed Agent budget ensuring all deadlines are met in line with financial timetables for all month-end, reporting, budgeting and forecasting. You will be instrumental in ensuring that strict financial controls are in place for tracking all budgeted spend, highlighting any key discrepancies against the plan where relevant.


This role will offer the chance to gain an in-depth understanding of dnata Retail’s total operations, working closely with various internal stakeholders including the Category Buying team, Supply Chain, Operations, 3rd Party Partners and Finance.

Internal: Managed Service, General Managers, LMP (Last Mile Providers) Unit managers, employees, HR Director, , Central Supply Team, Central Services Team at Manchester

External: Airlines, auditors, contractors, 3rd Party Partners


What you’ll be doing:

  • Own the preparation of the LMP budget and forecasting processes ensuring that any risks and opportunities are highlighted for all LMPs.
  • Attendance of Monthly LMP operational meeting and lead representation for dnata finance (due to commercial sensitivity of data).
  • Provide detailed understanding and insight on monthly result actuals and variance analysis including commentary for inclusion into customer P&L and LMP Operational Account Packs.
  • Own the sign-off of LMPs costs (actuals, budget and forecast) with airline prior to review meetings (MBR QBR).
  • Continuous Improvement – continue to communicate effectively where efficiencies and costs for LMP can be influenced – be the expert in the actual costs. Highlighting to the MA where there is cost leakage due to Adhoc charges, changes in service scoping.
  • Support the Assistant Accountant in chasing and processing of LMP invoicing and approvals from MA team, ensuring all accurate and relevant data is passed through for processing by the SSC to allow on time payment.
  • Support the production of all (external) outputs from the department: Customer Weekly flash and Customer Monthly PL’s and performance reports for the customer management reporting pack.
  • Supporting the BI Manager with the accuracy in Power BI reporting ensuring accuracy in data pre generation of all customer reporting.
  • Assist with the development, testing and implementation of systems and processes. To include EDI uploading of invoicing (LMP).
  • Support and maintain process notes / process maps and relevant documentation for control and compliance with client SLAs.
  • Ongoing development and training of the Assistant Accountant within the retail team with a focus on delivering ‘best practices’ across the business.
  • Other adhoc duties as required.

What you’ll have:


  • Strong academics and be a Part Qualified / Passed Finalist Accountant (ACCA, CIMA, ACA or equivalent)
  • Experience of operating within an Accounting department, preferably at a large complex organisation
  • Highly organised and structured, ability to forward plan to ensure departmental deadlines are achieved.
  • Good communication skills both written and verbal.
  • SAP Knowledge is essential.
