Job summaryWe are seeking to appoint a new Group Director of Operations to provide operational leadership to our Primary Care, Community and Therapies Group. This will enable both operational and strategic development with unique opportunities across all sectors.In turn we need someone with extensive knowledge of community services, an excellent communicator who can influence at the highest level.Main duties of the jobAs the most senior operational position within the professional management team, you will be responsible for the day to day delivery and leadership of services to patients in accordance with agreed objectives, targets, quality standards, controls and resource constraints.You will lead the Group which consists of 5 directorates including:ICaresiBedsAmbulatory Therapies & EOL General Practice Directorate Community MedicineUrgent Community ResponseYou will provide line management to the Directorate Leads and be an integral part of the Trust leadership structureAbout usThe Primary Care, Community and Therapies Group is diverse with a range of specialties, professionals and services. We provide all Trust delivered adult out of hospital care and work closely with the local Place Based Partnerships. As part of the Group Triumvirate leadership team, you will lead the Group with the Group Director and Group Director of Nursing.We are ambitious and strive to improve the experience of patients and citizens through exciting transformation, which involves developing a range of exciting additional services including:Care Navigation - combining all Single Points of Access and providing clinical triage and support across the locationUrgent Community ResponseIntegrated Front Door - to enable a 'community first' option for people attending EDVirtual WardsIntegrated Discharge HubJob descriptionJob responsibilitiesThe Director of Operations is accountablefor:Providing strong business / operational leadership of the Clinical GroupTo be responsible for achieving key performance targets as set by local and nationalinitiativesWith the Clinical Group Director, leading the development and review of the Groups service strategy paying special attention to the creation of new opportunities and serviceImprovements that will enhance patient care within and outside the organisationLeading the implementation of major delivery and transformation plans to affect the service strategy including those involving cross- Clinical Group and external partnershipWorking to support enhanced patient pathways and care quality. These plans will include systems, structures and processes for managing clinical quality, risk, controls assurance and local public and patient involvement initiativesWith the Clinical Group Director works in collaboration with Primary Care and other partners to establish and enhance community partnerships.To actively promote a culture of staff engagement, using this as a driver for service improvement.Monitoring and reviewing business and service performance at all levels,across all dimensions of care and delivery, reporting on performance directly to members of the Clinical Group Board and Trust meetings when appropriate and instituting remedial action where necessaryManaging and developing managerial, clinical and administrative staff within the Clinical Group and developing strong leadership potential; As the most senior operational manager within the Clinical Group; acting as a role model and leader to all staff across the organisationManaging the substantial capital and revenue budgets for the Clinical Group; Representing the Trust at a very senior level within the NHS and community and with partner organisations, working closely with them to institute integrated working in the bestinterests of patient carePerson Specification

Qualifications

EssentialManagement qualification, MBA, MSc or equivalentEducated to degree level or equivalentDesirableECDL or equivalent. Microsoft Office training expertise

Experience

EssentialSenior NHS leadershipExperience of financial and resource management in the NHS / public sector organisationSignificant recent experience of Group management at a senior level in the NHS, with responsibility for operational matters, including clinical qualify, staff management, budgetary responsibility, performance targets, waiting list management, discharge arrangements.Staff managementChange management and transformationDesirableA relevant clinical background
