What you’ll be doing:

  • Working as part of an IntegratedDevelopment Team, established to develop and deliver submarinesystems / capability Specifically focusing on ensuringthat Product Safety tasking and activities are completed acrossmultiple systems in support of project milestones through allstages of Engineering Life Cycle Management Supporting Hazard Identificationand Analysis studies Assisting with or generatingsafety reports Ensuring the IntegratedDevelopment Team operates within the project Safety ManagementSystem Liaising with other IntegratedDevelopment Teams and the Whole Boat SafetyTeam

Your skills andexperiences:

  • Obtained or predicted 2:2 in aBachelor’s or Master’s Engineering degree. In the absence of adegree, then sufficient and relevant work experience will beconsidered and a desire to obtain a degree will also beconsidered An understanding of ‘Safety andSystems Engineering’ and of the ‘Engineering Life CycleManagement’ Experience working and deliveringtasks as part of team, but also capable of working and deliveringtasks unsupervised The ability to be agile in workingpractices and customer expectations Self-motivated, with good verbaland written communication skills Practical experience as a ProductSafety Engineer in the maritime defence sector is preferable,although experience in other sectors will beconsidered

As aProduct Safety Engineer you will assist System Engineers ininfluencing submarine systems and capability development. You willdevelop an understanding of how submarine systems work and worktogether and ensure that the system of system interactionsconsiders Product Safety appropriately. The rolewill provide the opportunity to be involved in all aspects ofsafety management and safety case delivery. This includes safetyrequirements capture and management, hazard identification andanalysis, hazard data management, application of the ALARPprinciple, creation/maintenance of safety documentation andcontinuous improvement of the safety management system. The roleprovides a real opportunity to gain a broad overview of a complexsystem (i.e. submarine).
