Do you have proven experience of working in an advice related environment, where there has been a focus on financial and housing issues, plus a real desire to help improve people’s financial health? Then join Shelter as a Relationship Manager and you could soon be responsible for managing our innovative Breaking the Cycle programme.

About Shelter

Home is a human right. It’s our foundation and where we thrive. Yet everyday millions of people are being devastated by the housing emergency.

We exist to defend the right to a safe home. Because home is everything.

We need ambitious, passionate people to join us. This is your chance to play a part in the fundamental change we are striving to achieve.

Our enemy is the social injustice at the core of the escalating housing emergency. To win this fight, we must be representative of the people we are here to help and those who support our movement. In all our people decisions, we take pride in being inclusive, equitable and transparent. We are committed to combating racism both within and outside Shelter. We welcome you on our journey to becoming truly anti-racist.

About the team

In partnership with a leading UK bank, we recently launched a new 3-year partnership - the Breaking the Cycle programme - with a strategy centred on building the UK’s financial resilience. Together we aim to break the vicious cycles that leave people with poor financial health and negatively impact their housing situation. Indeed, we have committed to enabling 5,250 people with no fixed address to access a basic banking product. Thanks to the bank’s funding, we’ll also continue to work with the wider financial services sector to help them better serve the needs of vulnerable customers and onboard new charities to benefit from a ‘No Fixed Address’ service throughout the duration of the programme.

About the role

Part of the National Services team within our Services Directorate, this high-profile role will see you work closely with the Contract Manager and Partnership Manager in the High Value Partnerships team to help maintain a strong relationship with the bank. You’ll also be the day-to-day contact for financial services organisations engaging with the programme, scaling the basic banking product in partnership and helping them to better serve the needs of vulnerable customers. Managing new and existing charities that are working with individuals excluded from accessible banking will be important too. This will include onboarding, oversight and governance of these organisations through due diligence processes. And, throughout the project, you’ll be responsible for promoting and expanding the programme through networking and attending external events and forums to ensure expectations and outcomes are achieved.

We are happy to talk about flexible working, personal growth, and to promote a workplace where you can be yourself and achieve success based only on your merit.

About you

To succeed, you’ll need evidence of a relevant background that includes experience of developing working relationships with key decision-makers at external organisations and internal teams. Comfortable acting as the main point of contact and resolving delivery issues to optimise the client/customer experience, you have great presentation skills too. What’s more, you’re adept at managing and mitigating risks and happy to train new and existing partners and have input into the design of marketing materials to promote the programme. Proficiency using a range of IT tools to carry out your work, including Microsoft Office applications, reporting systems, internet, email etc., is also required.

Benefits

We offer a wide range of benefits, including 30 days of annual leave, enhanced family friendly policies, pension and interest free travel loans. Our employees also have access to a tenancy deposit loan, payroll giving, cycle to work scheme and an employee assistance programme.
Shelter helps millions of people every year struggling with bad housing or homelessness through our advice, support and legal services. And we campaign to make sure that, one day, no one will have to turn to us for help. We’re here so no one has to fight bad housing or homelessness on their own.
