Key Accountabilities:

  • Provide leadership and management for safety, health, quality and environmental ensuring full regulatory compliance, supporting and advising the business on all aspects of SHEQ
  • Provide support and expertise to the managers, to enable them to manage SHEQ within their own areas of the business
  • Overall responsibility for the process of investigating accidents, incidents, dangerous occurrences and near misses. Working with each manager from the management team on an ad-hoc basis to support with undertaking their incident investigations and reporting
  • Promote a positive mindset around SHEQ, building strong relationships with the workforce
  • Develop a means of regularly communicating general SHEQ updates and specific information on an ad-hoc basis to the business
  • Build and nurture relationships with key clients
  • Facilitate all forms of risk assessment e.g. general, manual handling, COSHH, fire prevention and act as a final authority where a specialist response is required in relation to risk assessments performed by others on-site
  • The monitoring of company assets, ensuring full compliance with LOLER and PUWER and ensuring accurate records are kept
  • Monitoring and maintaining our ISO management systems: 9001 Quality, 45001 H&S, and 14001 Environmental
  • Ensure Emerson retains all current accreditations (i.e. UVBD, RISQS, FORS, Construction Line, Building Confidence etc.)
  • Ensure operatives and vehicles adhere to Emerson company standards at all times (i.e. PPE, behaviours, visual standards etc.)
  • Attending customer sites and our own Depots to conduct safety audits, giving feedback to the MD, management team and wider workforce
  • Complete and submit supplier tender/PQQ submissions and ensure all are completed accurately and returned in a timely manner
  • Remain up to date with legislation and regulations relevant to the company
  • Ensure Compliance Officer is fulfilling all duties as required on their job description and assist them when necessary

 

Requirements of the Role:

  • Proactive, self-motivated, strong integrity, team player
  • A good understanding of MS Office, Word, Excel and PowerPoint
  • Ability to prioritise
  • Excellent communication skills (verbal/written)
  • Ability to persuade, influence and negotiate effectively at all levels within and outside the organisation
  • NEBOSH Construction/National General Certificate – minimum
  • NEBOSH Diploma – would be an advantage
  • BSI or equivalent training – would be an advantage
  • Environmental management systems qualification – would be an advantage
  • At least 3 years’ experience in a SHEQ management role with line management experience
  • Drive for improvement
  • Accuracy and attention to detail
  • Adaptable to embrace and drive change
  • Confident in speaking within a group environment and the ability to give presentations
  • A driving licence

Basic Working Hours:

  • Flexible but in general 8am to 5.30pm Monday to Friday
  • Holiday entitlement 30 days per annum (inclusive of bank holidays), increasing annually up to a maximum of 33 days
  • Pension – auto-enrolment


Salary:

  • £55K - £65K per annum
  • With company vehicle or car allowance
