Role Overview:

We are seeking an experienced Head of Property Care to lead our property maintenance services. Reporting to the Director of Asset Delivery, you will be responsible for ensuring strong operational and financial performance, providing excellent customer service, and inspiring colleagues. You will develop and execute a property maintenance strategy that supports the delivery of our current and future Corporate Plans.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Vision and Strategic Direction: Set the vision and strategic direction for the property maintenance function, embodying FCHO’s Values and Behavioural Framework.
  • Continuous Improvement: Drive continuous improvement and implement change management approaches to meet the needs of customers and the business.
  • Service Growth: Expand the service to become the ‘contractor of choice’ for FCHO.
  • Performance Management: Maximise resources through effective performance management and productivity enhancement.
  • Compliance: Ensure all statutory, regulatory, and legal requirements are met, delivering the organisation’s goals.
  • Financial Oversight: Oversee operational and financial performance, including budget management (circa £8m) and effective financial forecasting.
  • Employee Engagement: Lead employee engagement efforts, particularly with a mobile workforce.
  • Health and Safety: Promote a positive health and safety culture.
  • Learning and Development: Ensure appropriate staff development to meet service objectives and business planning.
  • Supply Chain Management: Achieve best-in-sector performance regarding cost, quality, and service delivery.
  • Fleet and Facilities Management: Oversee FCHO’s fleet and facilities management.
  • Sustainability Strategy: Lead the application and delivery of the Sustainability Strategy for Property Care.
  • Service Expansion: Identify and capitalise on opportunities to expand service delivery and grow the Property Care business.
  • Policy and Procedure Evolution: Lead service reviews and the continual evolution of policies and operational procedures.


Qualifications and Experience:

  • Essential:
  • Experienced and confident senior leader with authenticity and credibility.
  • Strong technical skills and experience in delivering property maintenance services.
  • Excellent problem-solving and contract negotiation skills.
  • Ability to communicate a clear vision and set high expectations.
  • Strong operational and financial management skills.
  • Experience in developing and delivering innovative service approaches.
  • Ability to identify and implement sustainable business growth and expansion.
  • Compliance with KPIs and operational performance measures.
  • Experience in successfully leading, managing, and motivating teams at a senior level.
  • Knowledge of current best practices in repairs and maintenance.
  • Significant experience in project programme performance monitoring and financial management.
  • Inspirational leadership and a passion for excellent customer service.
