Senior Grounds Person - Parks & Open Spaces

We are seeking an experienced and dedicated Senior Grounds Person to join our team managing the parks and open spaces within our local area. In this permanent, full-time role, you will be responsible for the day-to-day maintenance and upkeep of our parks, gardens, and other public green spaces.
Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee the work of grounds operatives and coordinate their activities to ensure efficient and effective maintenance of all assigned areas
  • Develop and implement comprehensive maintenance plans to keep parks, playgrounds, sports fields, and other open spaces well-maintained and presentable
  • Operate and maintain various grounds equipment and machinery, including mowers, trimmers, blowers, and small vehicles
  • Monitor and address issues related to landscaping, horticulture, arboriculture, and general grounds keeping
  • Liaise with local authorities, community groups, and other stakeholders to understand and meet their needs
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant health, safety, and environmental regulations

Requirements:

  • Minimum 5 years' experience in a senior grounds maintenance role
  • Strong knowledge of horticulture, arboriculture, and landscape management
  • Ability to lead and motivate a team of grounds operatives
  • Proficient in the use of grounds keeping machinery and equipment
  • Full, clean driving licence
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills
  • Passionate about creating and maintaining high-quality public green spaces

This is a permanent, full-time position working an average of 40 hours per week. A company vehicle is provided.
