You’ll be a fundamental senior manager, shaping our business and how we operate to ensure that we are both safe and compliant in all that we do. You will be accountable for developing and embedding a culture that places safety as the number one priority.  You will ensure our existing processes are evolving continually to deliver our zero harm environments.

You will directly report to the Director of Installation Services and Seeka. You will lead the on boarding, training and technical compliance to ensure the contract upholds the safe standards expected within Installation Services. This will apply to all existing staff and anyone who is entering the business.

You will have 5 direct reports and 60 in-direct reports. This is a remote or hybrid role. If hybrid it will be Newcastle based.
 
What you'll be doing:

  • Ensure the contracts conform to statutory requirements and company policy / procedures
  • Ensure that the contracts comply with the requirements of our COMCoP, OAMI and Gas Safe accreditations

  • Ensure that all company reporting requirements are adhered to

  • Monitor overall contract performance, identifying any areas of underperformance and take appropriate and timely action to rectify

  • Lead internal safety governance process and provide performance reporting at Operational and client level

  • Ensure that all suppliers / subcontractors are procured in line with IS / Contract SHEQ requirements 

  • Management of investigations, root-cause analysis of incidents and close out of recommendations to prevent reoccurrence in line with IS / Client SLA

  • Production and distribution of technical and SHEQ bulletins

  • Management of all metering SHEQ inductions

  • Developing / Updating Contract SHEQ Plans

  • Maintaining office ‘Site Occupiers Log’ and statutory Health and Safety within premise

  • Management of IS Authorisation process for technical activities and annual log of reviews / PDRs

  • Management of contract personnel’s competence, training plans and toolbox talk / briefing schedules

  • Auditing internal contract processes to ensure compliance with legal / IS / client requirements

  • Management of plant and equipment maintenance and testing compliance e.g. ladder inspections, PAT testing etc

  • Collation of resource working hours for IS / Client reporting purposes

  • Develop annual SHEQ Targets and Objectives through the production of the contract action plan

  • Ensure that the compliance and auditing operations are effectively resourced and trained in line with contract objectives / targets and that key personnel are retained and developed

  • Development and implementation of a strategy for the recruitment and training of competent field auditing resources to deliver the contract requirements

  • Setting and managing performance objectives for those resources you are responsible for

  • Developing and maintaining job profiles for resources you are responsible for

  • Key liaison point for clients SHEQ contacts

What we need from you:

  • Minimum of 5 years SHEQ management experience in utility / metering contracting or similar environment. 

  • NEBOSH qualified

  • Proven person-management abilities and motivational skills, gained in SHEQ roles within the utility / metering sector. 

  • Relevant management and professional SHEQ qualifications. 
  • Experience in project management.
  • Proven high level communication and negotiation skills. 

  • Understanding of health, safety and quality management. 

  • High degree of commercial / strategic awareness. 

  • Good appreciation of statutory framework in contracting law, health and safety law, employment law, etc. 

  • Strong client and customer focus. 

  • Hold a driving licence

  • Ability to identify business risks, and be able to design & implement mitigation plans
