**Job Description**:
JOB TITLE: Head of Regulatory Compliance
LOCATION: Tyne & Wear
SALARY: Dependent on experience
THE ROLE: The Head of Regulatory Compliance is a highly critical role which plays a key part in ensuring our client complies with its regulatory obligations.
Key Responsibilities will include:
General regulatory:

- Advice on interpretation of the distribution companies’ licences and related documents.
- Advice on interpretation of the Electricity Act, relevant regulations (e.g. guaranteed standards of performance, connection offer expenses, connection charges, Electricity Safety, Quality and Continuity) and industry codes.
- Participation in industry working groups (e.g. licence drafting, guaranteed standards, quality of supply).
- Lead on responding to licence-related consultations and support to the business on other consultation responses, as necessary.
- Support to the business in dealing with Ofgem correspondence, requests for information and determinations, customer complaints, Energy Ombudsman referrals, connection queries and connection contractual issues/disputes.

Other compliance:

- Management of the Competition Act and Anti-Bribery and Corruption compliance programme and maintenance of the associated policies.
- Management of consumer credit compliance in respect of the company car scheme.

Regulatory compliance process:

- Maintenance of the compliance database for obligation and ownership changes.
- Management of the quarterly compliance process.
- Review of potential non-compliances and compliance risks and confirmation of remedial actions.
- Preparation of compliance report for quarterly board meetings.
- Monitoring and follow-up on completion of remedial actions.

Data Assurance process:

- Management of all aspects of the Data Assurance process in respect of regulatory returns, including preparation and submission to Ofgem of the annual Data Assurance Report and provision of advice on the requirements of the Data Assurance Guidance.
- Review of certain material regulatory submissions.
- Participation in Ofgem process for reviewing the Data Assurance Guidance and responding to associated consultations.

THE CANDIDATE:

- Applicants MUST HAVE proven working experience in or advising a regulated industry.
- Ability to operate at a national level, including with Ofgem and other industry participants
- Experience of regulatory analysis and external reporting.
- Knowledge of compliance risk evaluation
- Previous working experience in an in-house compliance role is an advantage
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Sound legal knowledge
- High attention to detail
