This beautiful old pub set in the heart of the village is well known as it appeared in " The Darling Buds of May" alongside the church next door. It is an imposing building with a large trade garden to the side of the pub, a private car park to the rear and public parking at the front. We are seeking an experienced publican to develop this fantastic multi-functional site.
The Black Horse is a very traditional country pub with three main trading areas, all well-decorated with quality carpets, wooden flooring, and ornate furnishings. The main bar features an attractive corner servery with bar stools, chairs, and tables for up to 14 covers to enjoy a casual drink or bar snack. The dining area which overlooks the trade garden, is to the right of the main bar and boasts a large inglenook fireplace, and a further 16 covers across wooden tables and chairs. The space to the rear of the property is used for private parties and functions but could also be used to increase the dining space. Additionally, there is a function room on the first floor which is currently unused but holds great potential to host events. The large commercial kitchen is well-positioned and equipped to support the established food offer which must be maintained and developed to grow this business.
The beautiful beer garden is set to the side of the pub with picnic bench seating for up to 100 covers. There is also space for a marquee, which provides a great opportunity to host weddings and parties. The pub has a car park with 25 spaces and there is further parking available in a shared public car park.

The Black Horse is a well-known Grade II Listed period Inn and restaurant in the centre of the Village, a sought-after commuter area. This is a charming Village pub well known for its 'Darling Buds of May’ connections. The bar and restaurant have considerable charm and character and retains many original features. The property also has spacious first and second floor accommodation with a large beer garden and car park.
Surrounding Area
Pluckley is one of many picturesque villages in the Ashford district of Kent. The Black Horse is well located on a main road with easy access to the M20 and other local villages and towns. Beyond the rear car park is a well-kept cricket pitch and park, which leads off into walks of outstanding natural beauty. Tourists are attracted by a famous television appearance in the Darling Buds of May as well as the many local attractions, including Bibbenden Vineyards, Gooseberry Field Campsite and Leeds Castle. The area of Pluckley is also renowned for its reputation as one of England’s most haunted villages, which has proved to attract extra trade to the pub.
