An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Band 5 Occupational Therapist looking to progress to a Band 6 or an experienced Band 6 Occupational Therapist to join the Specialist Surgery Therapy Team based mainly at Heartlands Hospital. The Specialist Surgery team covers vascular, general surgery, colorectal surgery, ENT, urology and gastroenterology wards. Birmingham Heartlands Hospital is home to the Pan Birmingham Vascular centre and more recently has been a specialist site for robotic colorectal operations. The successful applicant will recieve training from an experienced multi disciplinary team and will be exposed to a wide range of surgical patients requiring various therapy interventions and rehabilitation.
Main duties, tasks & skills required
To deliver specialist occupational therapy as part of Specialist Surgery Therapy Team to treat and rehabilitate patients post surgery. To take a role in planning, training, delivery and development of clinical occupational therapy. To work effectively in collaboration with the full multidisciplinary team. To act as a key contact and a source of advice for specialist surgery to multidisciplinary team colleagues, managers, other health care professionals and other services and networks internal and external to the Trust as required. To undertake clinical audit and evaluation of evidence based practice, initiating / participating in research and evaluation of service. The role contributes to the delivery and development of Trust-wide occupational therapy provision as part of Therapy Services. UHB is a multi-site organisation therefore you may be required to work at any of the Trust sites. You may need to change your normal place of work, either temporarily or on a permanent basis, as a result of development or reorganisation of Trust services. To contribute to and undertake 7 day working across the Trust as required.

*Demonstrates clinical experience enabling the post holder to manage a caseload of patients with complex needs in this speciality (specialist surgery/vascular).
