2D/3D Animator and Modeler for New Earth Science YouTube Channel

Are you passionate about storytelling through visual media? Join us at Astrum-Earth, a new sister channel to Astrum, one of the largest astronomy channels on YouTube with over 2 million subscribers. While Astrum captivates audiences with educational and high-quality content about space, Astrum-Earth will focus on Earth-related disciplines, including geology, biology, oceanography, climate, atmospheric phenomena and more.
We are currently looking for a talented 2D and 3D Animator to help bring our ideas to life and enhance our storytelling through dynamic visuals and captivating animations. These will play a crucial role in enhancing our viewers’ understanding and engagement of complex subjects.
This is initially a freelance role, but has the long-term potential to convert to a full-time role.
Tasks- Collaborate with the scriptwriter and content creator to conceptualise and visualise animations that effectively communicate complex scientific concepts.
- Produce high-quality 2D and 3D animations that align with the visual style and tone of our YouTube channel.
- Transform abstract ideas and theories into engaging and informative visual content through collaborative brainstorming and creative briefs.
- Ensure the accurate representation of information within animations to uphold our educational standards.
- Work closely with the video editing team to seamlessly integrate animations into video content, enhancing the overall viewing experience.
- Contribute creative insights and suggestions to elevate the visual storytelling process.
- Stay up-to-date with industry trends and advancements in animation techniques to continuously improve the quality of our content.
- Create and animate following the brand guidelines to ensure consistent recognition throughout the animations, including colours, fonts, and more.
- Strong portfolio showcasing your animation skills and ability to convey complex concepts visually.
- Proficiency in industry-standard 2D and 3D animation software (e.g., Adobe After Effects, Cavalry, Manim, Blender, Maya, Cinema 4D etc.).
- Strong 3D modelling skills with the ability to manipulate data, including photography, to recreate 3D models (e.g., topographic data, stereoscopic images).
- Agility and flexibility to deliver animated storytelling across a range of creative visual styles
- Proven experience in animating illustrations to tell visual stories and provide narrative context.
- Excellent storyboarding skills to effectively plan and visualise animation sequences.
- A passion for Earth-sciences and education, with a desire to create content that inspires and educates our audience.
- Excellent attention to detail and a commitment to delivering high-quality work within deadlines.
- Effective communication skills and the ability to collaborate within a team environment.
