HenleyinArden, United Kingdom Chana Projects Full time

About Us

We are an independent construction, property and heritage consultancy providing professional services to the built environment.

Our core services are project & programme management, construction management, surveying, and consulting & advisory, in addition to bespoke professional services. Our business is based in Henley-in-Arden in Warwickshire, but we operate across the UK, with projects in the Midlands, London, North England, Thames Valley, and Oxford-Cambridge Arc regions. We work across several sectors, including the Arts & Culture, Education, Healthcare, Heritage, Local Government, and Real Estate.

At Chana Projects, we endeavour to create, innovate, and inspire in all that we do. Our firm belief is that people are the priority, which is why we proudly put our people first. We are keen to play our part in the preservation and celebration of our heritage and cultural assets to ensure they are there to be enjoyed by future generations, but equally support the creation and construction of new places and spaces. Our goal is to deliver our projects successfully, whilst being warm, fair, kind, and most importantly, having fun doing it

About this role

We are seeking a skilled, experienced and enthusiastic Project Manager with expertise in delivering Heritage Projects to help deliver some exciting projects in the Midlands and wider UK on a part-time basis. In this role, you will lead the planning, management, and execution of projects related to the restoration, conservation, and adaptive reuse of heritage sites. Your leadership will ensure that projects are delivered to the highest quality standards while respecting the historical significance of the sites involved.

This role requires knowledge of heritage conservation principles and an ability to navigate the complexities of working with historic buildings. You will be responsible for overseeing the entire project lifecycle, managing budgets, timelines, and stakeholder relationships while ensuring compliance with conservation guidelines and regulations.

As our work focuses on the delivery of projects, this is a hybrid role split between the company office, client offices, project sites and working from home (which is actively encouraged as long as the role is being fulfilled). The client offices and project sites for this role are all based in the Midlands, ranging from approximately 15 – 90 minutes from the company office. A commitment to work from the company for at least one day per week (or more) is very desirable to foster collaboration and team building.

This job offers a unique opportunity for an experienced and driven project manager to contribute to the preservation and revitalisation of the UK’s rich heritage in an exciting and growing business. If you have the skills, experience, and passion for heritage conservation, we would love to hear from you.

What we expect of you

The role is varied and flexible and the company is keen that the appointed consultant helps to shape the scope, however, as a minimum, it will encompass the following requirements:

Project Leadership:

  • Lead multiple heritage projects from initiation through to completion, ensuring they are delivered on time, within budget, and to the agreed quality standards.
  • Develop and manage comprehensive Project Execution Plans, project programmes/schedules, and risk registers using tools like Microsoft Project.
  • Ensure all projects comply with heritage conservation laws and guidelines, liaising with local and national preservation bodies as needed.

Governance & Compliance:

  • Establish and maintain strong project governance, including producing project documentation such as progress reports, site inspection reports, meeting agendas and minutes, risk registers
  • Manage the procurement process, including preparing tenders and coordinating with contractors, ensuring proper documentation of all contractual obligations.

Stakeholder Management:

  • Serve as the primary point of contact for clients, heritage conservation officers, architects, and other stakeholders.
  • Facilitate clear and consistent communication to ensure alignment on project goals and preservation standards.

Site Management:

  • Conduct regular site visits to monitor construction progress and compliance with both conservation and safety standards.
  • Address any issues or challenges arising during the construction phase, proposing solutions to maintain project integrity.

Business Development:

  • Identify and pursue new business leads and tender opportunities
  • Lead tender responses and contribute to the development of business marketing materials.
  • Actively represent the company at industry events and networking opportunities.

CPD and Training:

·      Attend recommended training courses to support the role and designated responsibilities (all to be agreed)

What we do to support you

  • Flexible working arrangements, including opportunities for remote work.
  • 25 days annual leave (in addition to bank holidays) (pro-rata for PT roles).
  • Personal private health cover.
  • Opportunities for professional development, including mentorship, training, and support for industry qualifications.
  • Primary annual professional institution subscription.
  • Support of development of new and innovative business practices.
  • Technology and equipment provided to support your role (e.g., laptop, monitor, headset).
  • Representation at industry events and conferences, offering networking and business development opportunities.
  • Electric car salary sacrifice scheme

Diversity, Equity, & Inclusion (DEI)

We are committed to encouraging diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) among our workforce, and eliminating unlawful discrimination. Our business is a minority-owned SME, and we are passionate about championing DEI in all that we do. We have our own DEI policy and commitments, but we have also signed the CIOB's Diversity & Inclusion Charter to illustrate our ambition to make our industry fairer and more open to all.

Sustainability

Sustainability is a fundamental aspect of our operations, guiding our approach in the construction and heritage sectors. We are committed to reducing our environmental impact by minimising greenhouse gas emissions, promoting renewable energy use, implementing responsible waste management, and ensuring resource efficiency through the reuse and recycling of materials. Our projects prioritise sustainable design, biodiversity protection, and internationally recognised certifications. In addition to environmental stewardship, we are dedicated to the well-being of our employees and stakeholders, fostering community engagement, social value creation, and maintaining safe, inclusive work environments. Through continuous improvement, governance, and employee training, we ensure that sustainability is integrated into every stage of our work, creating long-term value for our clients, our projects, and our users.
