London, United Kingdom INSTITUTE FOR PUBLIC POLICY RESEARCH Full time

Researcher, International Policy

12-month fixed term contract, 30 to 37.5 hours a week

The Institute of Public Policy Research (IPPR) is an independent charity working towards a fairer, greener, and more prosperous society. Over more than three decades, we have worked to ensure that ideas that once seemed impossible have become a reality. We are now at an incredibly exciting time for the organisation, with the advent of a new government, and we are looking to recruit a new researcher role to support the development of our international policy programme.

Exciting? We think so too.

About the role

With proven skills in research and research methodology, you’ll be a self-starter, willing to work across a range of projects and policy themes, as part of a busy and friendly team. Duties will include conducting research, analysing data, writing reports and project updates, providing project, events and administrative support, contributing to project development and funding proposals, and developing and maintaining relationships with funders and other public policy stakeholders.

The role offers the chance to develop a career within research and policy, and the successful candidate will be supported to progress within and/or outside of IPPR.

About you

If you have a knowledge of quantitative research methods, excellent writing skills and a good understanding of one or more of the following areas - UK foreign policy, policy on international development, international climate, international finance or international relations, or geopolitics or geoeconomics - this is the ideal job for you. With a passion for politics and government, you’ll be driven by your interest in international policy debate, deepening your understanding and desire to create progressive change.

Highly organised and a strong communicator, you’ll thrive in a fast-paced environment and be confident collaborating with a range of stakeholders and presenting research. You’ll have excellent administration skills and exceptional attention to detail, enabling you to work independently, complete tasks on time and support the team to keep projects on track.

This is a vital role at IPPR over the coming months, as we expand our international policy team in a fast-changing, challenging global landscape. The successful candidate will have a real opportunity to help meet these challenges and secure progressive outcomes, working closely with the major political parties in the UK.

IPPR is committed to equality of opportunity and welcomes applications from all sections of the community, and from applicants with a range of professional and lived experiences. As an organisation engaging in critical debate about a wide range of progressive policy issues, we value the creativity and range of perspectives that a diverse team can provide.

This post will be based in our London office, right at the heart of Westminster, with staff expected to be in the office at least 40 per cent of their working hours. As part of our commitment to flexible working we will consider a range of options for the successful applicant to fill the post. All options can be discussed at interview stage.

If you're interested in applying and excited about working with us but are unsure if you have the right skills and experience, we'd still love to hear from you.
