We are recruiting for a further Finance Manager to join our growing team. You will be an exceptional candidate with the experience to deliver high-quality reporting, forecasting and analysis for NHS Resolution’s indemnity schemes and possess strong FP & A and commercial experience.
NHS Resolution provides indemnity arrangements for NHS secondary and general practice provision, several arms-length bodies, and a number of independent sector providers of health care. The eleven schemes, governed by Regulations, provide indemnity cover for both clinical and non-clinical negligence.
You will be responsible for delivering high-quality financial planning and analysis to support reserving for NHS Resolution’s indemnity schemes. You will also support the development and implementation of financial policies and processes to ensure effective financial management and governance.
Your responsibilities will include:
Managing the valuation of the indemnity scheme provisions, which are unique and central to NHS Resolution. This includes handling, modelling, and analysing complex data sets, working with actuarial advisers (including Government Actuary’s Department - GAD) and other experts, and reporting the best estimate of the scheme liabilities.
- Managing and coordinating month end and year end activities
- Developing forecasts, full year outturns, and carrying out ad hoc analysis to understand variances, trends, and risks, and to support decision making
- Supporting production of NHS Resolution’s Annual Report and Accounts (ARA) and the external audit
- Supporting reserving cycle activities and ownership of actions from formal working groups
- Supporting new and existing projects as required
- Contributing to the controlled environment and model assurance
You will be a qualified (ACCA/CIMA/ACA) accountant with excellent financial analysis, modelling and interpretation skills which would help NHS Resolution understand historical performance and apply to forecasting activities, along with trends that may impact future performance, as well as key assumption changes.
You will also have excellent planning and organisational skills and be used to delivering both accurately and to timelines, in a complex and fast paced environment.

We are an arm’s length body (ALB) of the Department of Health and Social Care (DHSC) that provides indemnity to the NHS for the risks involved in delivering healthcare services. We handle compensation claims, ensuring compensation is both fair and timely while combatting exaggeration or fraud. We also deliver expert advice and support on the management of concerns about the performance of doctors, dentists and pharmacists.
Additionally, we resolve contracting disputes between primary care contractors and commissioners of primary care, operating independently and transparently to reduce the need for such disputes to be managed via the courts. Finally, we use our unique perspective across the causes of claims, performance concerns and contracting disputes to provide insights back to the NHS to help improve safety and manage risk.

This role is currently a hybrid role with up to two days a week to be based in our Leeds or London offices. If based in Leeds there will be some travel to our London office to attend team events and meetings.
