We have an exciting opportunity for a Snr AWS DevOps Engineer to join a fast growing niche software he’s leading the way in bidding technology. You’ll be instrumental in building the AWS DevOps function. THIS IS A SUPERB OPPORTUNITY FOR A Snr AWS DevOps Engineer or a SRE looking for a Devops opportunity with great growth potential. Working on Hybrid basis with one day a week in the office in Northamptonshire for |Snr management meetings and collaboration.


Responsibilities

  • Adapt and Improve Best Practices of Devops and Industry approach
  • Avid problem solver with excellent attention to detail and troubleshooting skills
  • Design and maintain system environment architecture to meet high availability, reliability, disaster recovery and security requirement in an AWS environment*
  • Able to arrange and organise work within multiple environments both static and dynamic
  • Happy to collaborate with other members of the remote dev team, guiding and mentoring when needed
  • Design and maintain efficient and proactive monitoring and logging systems to catch all issues with availability, performance or bad user experience*
  • Perform technical assessments of DevOps tasks to ensure successful implementation within reasonable timeframes
  • Open to learning new and emerging technologies and tools, documenting and cross training within the team
  • Confident in challenging the Status Quo if needed to demonstrate a pragmatic, proactive and collaborative attitude to the DevOps function
  • Proactive in communication with team members and any client interactions
  • Provide documentation and mentorship for developer colleagues*
  • Maintain end to end security ensuring best practices are always implemented in accordance with the ISO 27001 standards
  • Helping the support team with tickets and providing additional CLOUD technical support where required

Requirements

  • 5+ years of experience in DevOps / SRE roles to a senior level
  • Excellent communication skills - used to working remotely
  • Mature experience with cloud platforms mainly AWS
  • Advanced level with building CI/CD pipelines for microservices (Examples are Kubernetes, Cloud Pub/Sub, etc.)
  • Experience of coding with Node.js or PHP will be a significant advantage
  • Understanding of monitoring and logging principles such as Prometheus, Grafana and DataDog in order to provide real time proactive monitoring to maintain high availability*
  • Experience of designing, building and managing APIs would be a significant advantage
  • Linux troubleshooting skills (tcp dump, S trace, etc)
  • Fluency with Git version control systems*
  • DBA Knowledge would be an advantage
  • AWS certified


You’ll work with the Tech Director and will be responsible for the DevOps function - as the role progresses the Snr DevOps Engineer will move into a Lead DevOps role.

Whilst this role is remote first - it does require you to be in the northampton office on a Monday for leadership team meets, so ideally candidates will be within 1hr travel on Northampton [Bedfordshire, Buckinghamshire, Milton Keynes]
