Job vacancy: Engineering / Technical Director

Location: Head Office, Enfield, Middlesex

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an Engineering / Technical Director to join our Head Office team in Enfield Middlesex. To be considered, you will come from a Civil Engineering Background.

Key Accountabilities include:

  1. Working with the team to ensure the delivery teams (Planning, Design, Bid Reviews, Temporary Works, Document Control, and Business Development) are suitably skilled and experienced to deliver a first-class service.
  2. Encourage engineering innovation and value engineering during the design and construction process to reduce site-based construction activity.
  3. Manage the Design Managers outputs and standards, undertaking peer reviews.
  4. Produce and maintain Design Standards to meet the business needs. Advise, select, and appoint designers on D&B schemes.
  5. Provide technical expertise across all projects and tenders in supporting issues such as design problems, temporary works problems, etc.
  6. Set a standard for planning output across the business ensuring they are compliant with the Form of Contract.
  7. Mentor planners and review output and hold regular meetings with the Planning Team.
  8. At tender stage undertake a pre-settlement review and challenge of programmes.
  9. Ensure Temporary Works are captured at bid stage by planner/bid lead and costed and programmed accordingly.
  10. Review Temporary Works procedures, management, and co-ordination across all projects.
  11. Mentor Temporary Works Coordinators.
  12. Appointment and allocations of Temporary Works designers and monitor performance.
  13. Help and assist the site team in establishing a Utility Tracker for monitoring the liaison, coordination and implementation of Utility/Statutory Undertakers works.
  14. Responsible for the hiring process and restructuring to provide an efficient and talented workforce for the relevant functions.
  15. Lead in ensuring that the company has the required Quality and Technical accreditation and lead on appropriate Audits when required.
  16. Undertake other duties commensurate with the level of this position.
  17. Comply with Company policies & procedures.

Experience/Knowledge:

  1. Ability to develop and implement strategic plans and decisions.
  2. Highly experienced leader with a track record of leading, coordinating and developing large teams across geographical locations.
  3. Experience in working within a multi-disciplined team.
  4. Familiarity with resource planning, management and mobilisation, business development and tendering.
  5. Experience in client and stakeholder management.
  6. Understanding market analysis to identify opportunities to make informed business decisions.

  2. Demonstrable ability to champion and lead change.
  3. A passion for people management.
  4. Self-motivated and results driven.
  5. Reliable to deliver on time and able to work in a fast-paced, highly entrepreneurial work environment.

Qualifications:

  1. Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering or equivalent.
  2. Chartered Engineer (member of a professional institution).
