Senior Occupational Therapist About the RoleWe’re looking for a Senior Occupational Therapist to join a modern mental health treatment unit in Cardiff.The facility offers:Secure gardens, a gym, practice kitchens, sensory and social areas, art rooms, and more.Bespoke treatment packages across three wards for patients with complex mental health needs.A homely, modern environment designed to promote independence and recovery, supported by an experienced multi-disciplinary team (MDT).Your Key ResponsibilitiesAs a Senior Occupational Therapist, you’ll:Deliver group and one-to-one therapeutic, occupational, and recreational activities on the wards, hospital grounds, and in the community.Manage and supervise Therapy Assistants and junior staff, ensuring a high-quality, patient-centered service.Provide creative and motivating interventions to help patients improve their occupational skills and mental wellbeing.Assess, intervene, and evaluate progress in line with MDT care plans.Additional Duties:Reduce restrictive interventions.Maintain accurate clinical notes.Demonstrate excellent planning and time management skills.Engage in team meetings and regular supervision.What You’ll NeedQualification: Degree or Diploma in Occupational Therapy and HCPC registration.Experience: At least 2 years in a healthcare setting, ideally working with mental health or challenging behaviors.Desirable Skills: Sensory Integration Training (training opportunities will be available).Strong leadership, communication, and creative problem-solving skills are essential.What’s in It for You?Support from a qualified clinician and opportunities for supervision and learning.A chance to focus on fewer patients, delivering a personalized and effective service to help them recover and thrive.For further information please contact Allison at Merco on (phone number removed) or email (url removed)Please note: Unfortunatley we cannot offer sponsorship with this role
