Job Summary

As a Senior Account Handler, you will be responsible for managing and servicing a diverse range of commercial and personal insurance portfolios. You will work closely with insurers, clients, and internal teams to deliver tailored insurance solutions and ensure seamless service across new business, policy adjustments, renewals, and claims management.

Key Responsibilities

  • Account Management: Handle all aspects of insurance accounts, including new business, renewals, and mid-term adjustments for commercial and personal insurance policies (e.g. Motor, Motor Fleet, Commercial Combined, Household, High Net Worth, Travel, Liability, Property, PI, LE, Marine, etc.).
  • Policy Lifecycle Management: Manage the policy lifecycle from initial quotation to finalising cover, ensuring that all policy records are accurately entered and updated in the Acturis system (training provided).
  • Quotation & Marketing: Obtain quotes from insurer portals and the Acturis quote system, as well as through manual marketing where applicable.
  • Client Relations: Provide proactive and efficient service to clients, responding promptly to queries via email and phone, while also managing client expectations and communication throughout the policy term.
  • Policy Documentation: Review policy cover, endorsements, and ensure accuracy of documents. Communicate policy details and provide advice to clients as needed.
  • Invoicing & Billing: Handle invoicing for new business, renewals, and mid-term adjustments, ensuring accurate and timely processing.
  • Task Ownership: Take responsibility for managing your own tasks and deadlines, ensuring all client and director expectations are met on time and to the highest standard.
  • Negotiation & Risk Management: Negotiate favorable policy terms with insurers on behalf of clients, ensuring coverage meets their needs while managing risks.
  • Client Meetings: Attend client meetings off-site as necessary, preparing meeting notes and action points for follow-up.
  • Team Collaboration: Work closely with internal teams, including Directors, to ensure seamless client service and the successful delivery of insurance products.
  • Continuous Learning: Stay current on industry trends, emerging risks, and products, with opportunities for ongoing professional development and learning.


Key Skills and Qualifications

  • Experience: At least 3-5 years of experience in an Account Handler or similar role, with a strong understanding of commercial and personal insurance products.
  • Insurance Knowledge: Familiarity with a wide range of commercial and personal insurance lines (Motor, Property, Liability, etc.).
  • Technical Skills: Proficiency with Acturis or similar insurance management software is highly desirable (full training provided).
  • Communication Skills: Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to interact with clients and colleagues at all levels.
  • Organisational Skills: Strong attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities effectively.
  • Problem-Solving: Demonstrated critical thinking and the ability to handle complex queries with confidence and professionalism.
  • Self-Motivated: Ability to work independently, with a proactive approach to client service and task management.
  • Client-Focused: Strong customer service orientation and the ability to build and maintain long-lasting relationships with clients.
  • Team Player: Collaborative with a positive attitude, willing to support team members and contribute to the overall success of the business.
