SEND Tutor - KS1 - SEND Tutor (Pathological Demand Avoidance expert)

Ackerman Pierce works closely with County Councils and Schools to provide one-to-one tutoring for children waiting for school placements or who are unable to be in mainstream school. The children we are looking to support have a range of additional complex needs, and we are seeking experienced SEN Tutors / SEN Teachers / Teachers / Tutors / HLTA's.

We are currently recruiting for KS1-KS2 teachers/tutors to provide provision to a specific student based in Woodford Green. Ideally, we need a primary trained qualified SEND teacher to support an EOTAS package, delivering appropriate education including mentoring, therapeutic approaches, and additional activities beyond academic activities - catered to the individual child's needs and interests.

This young person is autistic and has a demand avoidance profile, so prior experience supporting similar needs is required.

Location: Woodford Green
Position: 1:1 Tutor
Start date: ASAP
End date: EOTAS package in place, likely to be for this full academic year
Contract type: Temporary
Typical Hours: 3 hours daily for this young person - 5 days per week (Monday - Friday) - most tutors work with 2-3 students daily, so up to 35 hours weekly on offer
Rate of pay: from £30 per hour for unqualified tutors with ASD and PDA experience. Up to £50 per hour for SEND Teachers with QTS
Term Time Only
During School Hours Only

We are looking for candidates who are:

  1. Available during school hours up to 30 hours per week.
  2. Experienced in delivering differentiated National Curriculum core subjects.
  3. Experienced teaching young people with a wide range of complex and challenging needs including ASD + PDA.
  4. Have exceptional behaviour management strategies.
  5. Prepared to work face-to-face within the community or family home.

Requirements:

  1. Background teaching in English, Maths or SEN classes.
  2. QTS status (or equivalent) or unqualified with two years' experience teaching NC core subjects.
  3. Experience working with SEMH/ASD/PDA/EBD/SEMH and associated complex needs.
  4. 2 years previous experience working within a UK school.
