NPD Product Manager - New Product Development

12-Month FTC

Refresco - Kegworth Head Office, with some travel required to other Refresco sites and when visiting customers.

Monday – Thursday 8:30 am – 5 pm and Friday 8:30 am – 4 pm (Hybrid offering; 1 day WFH)


What you’ll be doing as an NPD Product Manager

Reporting to the NPD Controller, the role is to lead a team of technologists to deliver NPD and EPD projects for Refresco UK, contributing to the overall business growth. The NPD Product Manager acts as a market-driven innovator, committed to developing the best products for our UK business. They’ll work to develop a strong team whilst acting as a role model of our core values and behaviours. Critically, you will form strong relationships with the Refresco UK customer-base and contribute to getting projects across the line.


Key responsibilities of the NPD Product Manager

  • Proactively working with colleagues in the Commercial department to develop customer ranges.
  • Representing the company and taking the lead in customer presentations, delivering NPD ideas which are category leading, commercially viable and operationally thought through or EPD which delivers to targets and meets internal and external requirements. Also supporting the customer with benchmarking and market reviews.
  • Actively engaging in the S&OP process to understand the workload coming into the NPD team and feeding back on project status.
  • Working with the team of Technologists to enable them to deliver products as requested by the customers and supporting their customer interaction as required.
  • Align with the Implementation and Customer Technical Support Managers in ensuring products are launched seamlessly and any queries/investigations around the 'live' product portfolio are supported to ensure quality is maintained.
  • Contribute to internal and external audits, delivering insight to NPD process and procedures.
  • Support the optimisation team in engineering the current range portfolio to deliver improved quality and/or profitability.
  • Proactively work with NPD Controller, Retail and Commercial Brand Managers and Category to develop a strategic NPD pipeline.
  • In conjunction with other stakeholders, establishing a development cycle including supplier presentations to feed into the 3-year business plan. Working with the team to identify and activate product development plans and projects which help to identify and grow our soft drinks expertise.
  • Having a clear understanding of the commercial aspects of NPD including recipe costs, production requirement and hurdle rates to help ensure that NPD delivers to both internal and customer expectations and needs.
  • Project management of NPD/EPD projects to both internal and external customer timelines.
  • Direct responsibility for a team of up-to 5 technologists, ensuring their development is at the forefront of your agenda in order to realise full potential ensuring that regular 1:1’s, development plans and appraisals are in place.

The ideal candidate will have experience managing people and projects, demonstrating a track record of delivering NPD/EPD from concept to launch. Strong communication skills are essential. Experience within the beverage industry is desirable along with a proven track record of working with retailers and brands. Additionally, the candidate should demonstrate a creative and passionate flair for NPD.
