Our client, a mid market buy-and-build PE fund, are building a new manufacturing platform. As such they are seeking an exceptional individual to be responsible for originating and executing a high volume of acquisitions the group.


This role would particularly suit a candidate looking for their first "number one" M&A role within a highly entrepreneurial and high growth environment.


The Role

The M&A Leads’ role will be to originate and execute a pipeline of multiple transactions - from opportunity identification and evaluation, through to coordination of due diligence and documentation.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Work autonomously day-to-day on M&A projects, under the leadership of the group’s board
  • Research and monitor the competitive landscape
  • Conduct data analysis and research to identify potential acquisition opportunities
  • Originate potential deals by contacting (or co-ordinating the work of third parties to contact) target companies
  • Lead the execution of transactions from opportunity evaluation, through due diligence, deal negotiation, execution, and final integration
  • Oversee rigorous internal due diligence processes on target companies, liaising with external advisors as appropriate
  • Produce investment appraisal and approval process documentation for presentation to investment committee and executive leadership
  • Support board directors in negotiating heads of terms with potential acquisitions
  • Manage external relationships including advisors and other third parties


The Person

  • The ideal candidate will be Top 10 ACA qualified with demonstrable experience in an M&A or Transaction Services deal team
  • Candidate may have in house M&A experience from a corporate environment or experience working in an M&A boutique or PE fund
  • Combines professionalism and gravitas with the EQ to interact credibly with owners and management teams of SMEs/ OMBs
  • Experience of working on deals in the lower/ mid-market, often with founder-led/ owner- managed business
  • Ability to manage a pipeline of multiple transaction opportunities
  • Have great written and oral communications skills and be able to influence at all levels including C-suite and investors
  • A self-starter who is able to work in a highly organised manner to prioritise projects and agendas
