ROLE OVERVIEW
We are seeking a motivated Junior Buyer to support our purchasing operations within the supply chain and foster relationships with our Supplier Partners. The successful candidate will assist in the sourcing of products, ensuring timely and cost-effective procurement, and help maintain strong partnerships with our key Supplier Partners. This role is pivotal in contributing our goal of delivering a high-quality product offering to Houlden Members while ensuring an efficient supply chain.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Supplier Relationship Management:
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with existing Supplier Partners, ensuring effective communication and collaboration.
- Assist in negotiating pricing, terms, and contracts with Supplier Partners to ensure the best value for Houlden Members.
- Monitor supplier performance, ensuring product quality, delivery timelines, and compliance with company standards.
- Work closely with Suppliers Partners to identify opportunities for new product development or exclusive offerings.
- Sourcing & Procurement:
- Support the CEO in identifying and sourcing Supplier Partners that meet the needs and preferences of Houlden Members.
- Conduct market research and analysis to identify new potential suppliers and trends within the luxury jewellery industry.
- Supply Chain Management:
- Coordinate with internal teams to ensure smooth procurement processes from order placement to delivery.
- Monitor supply chain and Supplier Partner performance, ensuring supply continuity and mitigating risks.
- Identify potential supply chain improvements and work with stakeholders to implement efficiencies.
- Maintain accurate records of purchases, contracts, and Supplier Partner agreements within Houlden systems.
- Budgeting & Cost Management:
- Review product purchasing and identify cost-saving opportunities.
- Prepare regular reports on purchasing activities, spend analysis, and Supplier Partner performance metrics for review with senior management.
- Collaboration with Members:
- Engage with Houlden Member jewellers to understand their needs, preferences, and feedback on Supplier Partners and their products / services.
- Help facilitate Member purchasing events, product showcases, and Supplier Partner introductions as required.
SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS
Experience:
- At least 4 years of experience in a purchasing or procurement role, preferably within the luxury goods or retail sector.
- Knowledge of supply chain management, vendor relationships, and sourcing processes.
Education:
- A degree in Supply Chain Management, Business, Procurement, or a related field is preferred.
Key Skills:
- Strong negotiation and communication skills, with the ability to build rapport with Supplier Partners and internal teams.
- Analytical skills to assess supplier performance, conduct market research, and manage budgets.
- Attention to detail and excellent organisational skills to manage multiple tasks and deadlines simultaneously.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint); knowledge of procurement systems or supply chain software is an advantage.
- A passion for the luxury jewellery industry and a keen eye for quality and craftsmanship.
