No sponsorship is available.Atrium Global is supporting a client in the VR/AR technology industry to secure a Camera Systems Engineer to drive optical modelling, camera simulation development, and image quality validation across next-generation products.Job OverviewYou will join the Camera Architecture Team, contributing to the design, simulation, and validation of end-to-end camera systems across smart glasses, AR and MR devices. The role involves building and enhancing optical models, supporting simulation pipelines, and partnering closely with optics, software, and hardware teams to evaluate new imaging technologies before they reach prototype stage.RESPONSIBILITIESDevelop and validate optical models within an imaging simulation pipeline, covering sensors, optics, and imaging algorithmsPartner with optics and camera teams to refine modelling requirements and improve pipeline fidelityCollaborate with software teams and external partners (e.g., Synopsys, Ansys) to understand and optimise implementationsWork with teams developing rendering engines, sensor models, and other pipeline components to ensure accuracy and performanceConduct experiments and data collection to validate simulation resultsResearch emerging imaging technologies to enhance simulation realismSupport prototyping and evaluation of new camera hardware, lenses, and sensorsContribute to calibration, metrology, and image quality assessment initiativesREQUIREMENTSStrong experience in camera development, imaging design, and image quality evaluationHands-on background in programmatically modelling complex lens behaviourProficiency in Python or Matlab for modelling and simulationExperience using optical design or ray-tracing tools such as Code V or ZemaxSolid understanding of image formation, spectrum, optical aberrations, PSF, noise, sampling and aliasingAbility to work independently and manage end-to-end project execution10+ years of relevant engineering experienceNICE TO HAVEExperience developing or implementing ray tracing or optical design softwareBackground in imaging systems calibration and metrologyFamiliarity with image sensor technology and image processing pipelinesExperience in image quality testing and analysis (MTF/SNR)
