The post holder will be a good role modelfor students actively supporting the Catholic, Christian ethos ofthe school and participating in whole school self-evaluation anddevelopment against the school’s mission and aims. They willsustain a positive ethos across the school which moves forward,solves problems, and resolves conflict by applying Christianprinciples of leadership in the skills of chairmanship,negotiation, arbitration, and reconciliation. All of the elementsof the role will be interpreted and applied in the context of theArticles of Government of the school as established, supported, andguided by the Diocese of Northampton. The post holder has ateaching and learning responsibility in the designated subjectarea(s).
To carry out the general and specificprofessional duties of a qualified teacher identified in thecurrent 'School Teachers’ Pay and Conditions Document'.
- Participate fully in whole school,year group, and lesson planning which meets the needs of all pupils– including those with SEND, the disadvantaged and those withunique gifts and talents. • Co-ordinate / act as a subjectspecialist in the designated curriculum area(s) includingmonitoring and assessment, policy assessment and teachingstrategies, consulting with colleagues and feeding back to theCurriculum Leader and Leadership Team.
- Monitorand assess pupil results and progress, ensuring that appropriaterecords have been kept in line with school policy. Use performancedata to inform individual, class and year group targets, lessonplanning and the preparation of differentiated work which meets theneeds of all pupils.
- Contribute to theschool’s appraisal process, participate fully in own appraisal.
- Support the school’s pastoral system withinthe year group, class and with individual pupils.
- Contribute to the effective deployment ofsupport staff and resources within the class.
- Play a full part in the life of the schoolcommunity, supporting the ethos of the school and encouragingstaff, pupils, parents and carers to do likewise.
- Comply with school policies and procedures inareas such as assessment, marking, behaviour management,communication with parents and carers, teaching English as anadditional language, cover, induction, short-term and long-termplanning, staff meetings and parental events.
- Maintain good behaviour within the classroomand elsewhere in the school dealing with unacceptable behaviour inline with the school’s agreed Behaviour Policy.
- Ensure personal professional development,being up to date in national and local developments, contributingto the school and wider networks and clusters, including across theAcademy Trust.
