I am delighted to be partnering with Whessoe on the assignment of a Senior Electrical Design Engineer. You will be working on major projects focused on LNG and cryogenic storage, and be part of a progressive and innovative team.


This is a permanent, hybrid role, based in Darlington, UK.


Senior Electrical Engineer Key Responsibilities:

  • Supervising assigned electrical engineers and electrical designers
  • Production and checking of design project deliverables on time and to budget
  • Leading the selection and development of electrical systems and control/distribution schemes.
  • Leading the preparation, checking and maintenance of all electrical engineering design and documentation using SmartPlant Electrical (SPEL) Trimble (formerly Amtech).
  • Reviewing and evaluating documentation supplied by vendors.
  • Supporting the development of bids along with the production of man-hour equipment/ materials estimates in support of the Proposals team.
  • Proactively carry out engineering analysis, design, specification and procedural work where a benefit is identified.
  • Communicating issues encountered in design to own and other disciplines to ensure the efficiency of the project team.


Senior Electrical Engineer Key Requirements:

  • Degree in Electrical Engineering, as accredited by Institute of Engineering Technology (IET).
  • Demonstrable experience as an electrical engineer in the Oil & Gas or Petrochemical industries.
  • Good experience in design application of electrical design software packages such as PTW, Trimble (formerly Amtech), DIALux and StrikeRisk.
  • Experience working with overseas clients and external design houses.
