OverviewMake a Real Difference in Your CommunityWere looking for caring and committed volunteers to join our Harm Reduction team across Birmingham.If youre passionate about helping people make positive changes in their lives and want to be part of creating healthier communities wed love to hear from you.ResponsibilitiesAbout the RoleAs a Harm Reduction Volunteer youll play a key role in supporting people to make positive informed choices about their health and wellbeing.Working alongside our dedicated team youll help provide vital support that can truly change lives.What Youll Be DoingProviding Support and ResourcesDeliver essential harm reduction interventions to people who use our servicesDistribute lifesaving equipment and information to help service users protect themselvesProvide access to Needle and Syringe Programmes ensuring clean equipment is available and used safelyRaising Awareness and EducationEngage with people who inject drugs about the benefits of Naloxone (the overdose reversal medication)Promote HIV and Hepatitis testing through Dry Blood Spot TestingShare vital safer sexual health information and adviceEducate service users on harm minimisation strategiesConnecting People to SupportEncourage service users to explore treatment options available through our serviceProvide information about pathways into recoverySignpost and refer individuals to other support services that meet their needsAct as a bridge between service users and the help they needCommunity OutreachBuild relationships with people in local communitiesOffer non-judgmental information advice and practical interventionsWork proactively to create safer public spaces through the responsible collection and disposal of used injecting equipmentHelp reduce drug-related harm in neighbourhoods across BirminghamLocationThis volunteer role is available across all of our hubs throughout Birmingham.Your placement will be determined by service need but well always take your location preference into account and work with you to find the best fit.What Were Looking ForA non-judgmental empathetic approach to working with people who use our servicesGood communication and interpersonal skillsReliability and commitment to regular volunteeringWillingness to work in community settingsAn open mind and desire to learnWhat Youll GainComprehensive training in harm reduction approachesExperience in public health and community outreachThe opportunity to develop valuable skills in a supportive environmentThe satisfaction of making a tangible difference to peoples livesIf you have any questions on this opportunity that you would like to talk through please contact us using the below details:Closing Date5/12/2025If you have any questions on this opportunity that you would like to talk through please contact us using the below details:Jason Cuthill Please note that we require you to be 18 years of age or older to be considered for this volunteering role.This post is subject to a Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check at an enhanced level.
