Role: Mechanical Design Engineer Duration:12 months Location:Stevenage, SG1 2BP (on-site 2-3 days per-week) Rate:Up to £55/hour (Umbrella) Inside IR35 We are seeking an experiencedMechanical Design Engineerto join an innovative R&D team in Stevenage on a 12-month contract. This role will focus on the design and development of advanced hardware solutions for next-generation bioprocessing technologies. Key Responsibilities: Lead hardware development projects, including new product features and assembly processes.Produce design specifications, drawings, prototypes, testing plans, and technical reports.Collaborate with suppliers on prototypes and pre-production builds, supporting transfer into manufacturing.Conduct laboratory testing to support design validation, verification, and troubleshooting.Utilise CAD software and prototyping methods including 3D printing, CNC machining, and injection moulding.Requirements: Degree in Mechanical/Design Engineering (2:1 or above) or similar.3+ years' experience in mechanical engineering within R&D environments.Strong background in component design for processes such as machining, sheet metalwork, and injection moulding.Proficiency with 3D CAD packages.Practical, hands-on approach to problem solving.Must have the right to work in the UK (no sponsorship available).This is an exciting opportunity to play a key role in the design and delivery of cutting-edge life sciences hardware.TPBN1_UKTJ
