OverviewWorld Class Defence Organisation is currently looking to recruit 3x Mechanical Design Engineer subcontractors on an initial 6 month contract.This role would suit a Mechanical Design Engineer who comes from a strong Defence or Aerospace background and has strong Creo / PRO-E skills.Job detailsJob Title: Mechanical Design EngineerRate: £50.00 per hourLocation: StevenageHybrid / Remote working: 4 days per week onsite and 1 day remote (flexible on start and finish time)Contract: 37 Hours per weekOvertime: Hours worked over 37 hours per week will be calculated at 'time and a quarter'Duration: 6 Months (initially and then ongoing and long-term thereafter)IR35 status: Inside IR35 (Umbrella)Mechanical Design Engineer Job DescriptionAn opportunity to become part of Europe\'s No. 1 Missile Systems Designer, as a Mechanical Design Engineer. You will work closely with other functional teams, to develop products to meet our customer\'s needs. Within this role you will have the opportunity to undertake cutting-edge research of novel mechanical technologies to meet the challenges of tomorrow.ResponsibilitiesCarry out Mechanical Design and proving activities as part of a wider team for prime and variant products, of both piece parts and assemblies.Support/liaise with manufacturing, resolving manufacturing problems & defects.Support to functional & environmental testing and trials.Liaise with suppliers/purchasing to resolve any technical queries that may arise.Planning and reporting on own day-to-day activities to meet project milestones.Gain clarification of and help to generate requirements, including challenging of extraneous requirements to reduce lead time, UPC and design complexitySkillset / experience requiredExperience using Creo 3D design toolKnowledge of several of the following………..Manufacturing processesTolerance studiesEnvironmental testMass property calculationsMaterial selectionFMEADesign for Manufacture/AssemblyEnvironmental Gasket SealingTooling/fixtures designStructural designDefence StandardsReview processesProduct LifecyclesIndustrial validationAn ability to work as part of a multifunctional engineering team and be able to partake in or host design reviews.An appreciation of other engineering areas/domains #J-18808-Ljbffr
