We are currently looking for a Procurement Director - External Manufacturing to join a leading pharmaceutical company based in either London or Hertfordshire. As the Procurement Director - External Manufacturing you will be responsible for shaping and executing procurement strategies for large molecule and vaccine drug substances from an external network. This is a pivotal role at the forefront of managing partnerships with Contract Manufacturing Organisations (CMOs).


This role sits on the leadership team of the Senior Director, External Manufacturing Procurement and is a key advisor to the global external manufacturing strategy. The role is hybrid and you will be required to be on site 2-3 times per week.


KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:


Your duties as the Procurement Director - External Manufacturing will be varied however the key duties and responsibilities are as follows:


1. Develop and implement strategic sourcing plans for large molecule and vaccine drug substances manufactured externally, ensuring alignment with the overall supply strategy.

2. Lead contract negotiations and manage ongoing contracts with Contract Manufacturing Organizations (CMOs) for both commercial production and late-phase clinical products.

3. Gather and analyse market intelligence to benchmark the CMO landscape, identifying opportunities for improvement and optimization.

4. Cultivate relationships with key senior internal and external stakeholders to support the business strategy and communicate supply chain insights.

5. Establish and monitor CMO performance metrics, promoting continuous improvement.


ROLE REQUIREMENTS:


To be successful in your application to this exciting role as the Procurement Director - External Manufacturing we are looking to identify the following on your profile and past history:


1. Relevant degree in supply chain, procurement, or a relevant technical field.

2. Extensive industry experience in the procurement and management of large molecule and vaccine CMOs.

3. Previous experience in the sourcing and procurement of CMO services for large molecule bulk drug substance.

4. A working knowledge and practical experience with developing and executing sourcing strategies across various geographies and supply chains.
