Role Description

-Participate fully in La Mancha’s investment process as a core member of the investment team.

-Report directly to the Chief Technical Officer on project assessments.

-Manage and prioritise multiple projects with tight deadlines, including coordinating with external consultants.

-Lead and coordinate mining and processing due diligence, including:

  • Evaluation of mine plans.
  • Validation of mineral reserves and mining models, ensuring financial and technical parameters are reasonable.
  • Assessment of processing technology and validation of key inputs.
  • Analysis and validation of operational expenses and capital investments.
  • Evaluation of ESG parameters related to energy, waste, water management, and environmental protection.


Prior to a potential investment

Conduct detailed due diligence on technical reports and studies prior to potential investments, including technical assumptions, parameters, and cost estimates for:

  • Mining
  • Processing
  • Infrastructure
  • ESG

-Produce a detailed risks and opportunities matrix, including modifying factors.

-Collaborate with the investment team to provide investment recommendations.


Post investment

Support the team in monitoring portfolio companies' operational performance and provide regular technical updates by:

  • Reviewing Monthly Performance Reports through management calls.
  • Producing analytical reports on production and reconciliation through analysis of grade control, reserve block models, and operating reports.


Skills – Required

-BEng or MSc in Mining Engineering.

-10+ years' experience as a Mine Planning Engineer with strong operational and consulting experience.

-Proven project management skills, including handling conflicting priorities and managing external service providers.

-Extensive open pit and underground operational experience.

-Ability to create and review mine plans (short-term and life of asset).

-Strong understanding of ore reserves' modifying factors and cost estimation (capital & operating).

-Knowledge of gold metallurgy and processing technology.

-Proficient in Excel model analytics.


Skills – Preferable

-Experience in preliminary economic analysis.

-Prior experience with an investment fund or financial institution in the mineral sector.

-Ability to estimate underground/open pit reserves from resource models.

-Knowledge of project financial model risks, NPV, and IRR metrics.

-Familiarity with reserve estimation standards (SAMREC, JORC) and public disclosure compliance (e.g. NI 43-101).
