About the Role Our client, a leading consultancy within the transport and infrastructure sector, is seeking an experienced Highway Design Engineer to join their expanding Engineering Design Team. This is an excellent opportunity for an ambitious engineer to work on a wide range of challenging and high-profile projects, with clear potential for progression. You'll play a key role in delivering high-quality design solutions across highways, drainage, and broader civil infrastructure projects. Working within a collaborative team environment, you will support project delivery from concept through to construction, while helping mentor junior engineers and technicians. Key Responsibilities Produce concept, feasibility, and detailed designs for highway and drainage infrastructure schemes. Deliver planning-stage layouts to support transport planning submissions. Develop 3D designs using Civil 3D, ensuring compliance with DMRB, Manual for Streets, and project-specific standards. Create sketch concepts, general arrangement drawings and relevant technical outputs. Assist with contract documentation, specifications, and technical reports. Conduct site inspections, surveys, and provide occasional site supervision. Offer guidance and coaching to junior team members.
