Contract Routing Design Engineer IR35 Status: Out Hourly Circa 40 DOE (40-50)Contract Term 3 monthsLocation Hybrid in Southampton (Calshot Belvidere Road Hampshire SO14 5QY)Were excited to be supporting a specialist in advanced marine engineering. Known for its collaborative culture and technical excellence it offers a dynamic environment for engineers passionate about marine technology and real-world impact.Were looking an experienced Project Design Engineers with a strong background in piping and routing to join a specialist marine design team. This is a hands-on contract role where youll contribute to high-impact projects involving complex fluid systems and mechanical layouts. Youll play a key role in maintaining project continuity and ensuring successful delivery across active marine engineering programmes.Responsibilities but are not limited toDesign and route pipework fuel and seawater systems using SolidWorks Routing toolsDevelop and modify 3D models and assemblies for marine vessel systems using SolidWorks 2025Interpret P&ID diagrams and implement accurate 3D system layoutsCollaborate with shop floor teams to ensure designs are practical maintainable and accessibleSet up new components and integrate them into existing ship modelsProduce and manage BOMs product libraries and downloaded modelsApply DFM principles to optimise designs for manufacturing including components sourced internationallyUse PDM systems to manage design data and maintain version controlWork with aluminium structures and confined ship zones (e.g. engine rooms) as neededExperiences requiredProven experience in marine vessel shipping or similar environments (e.g. oil & gas aerospace)Strong proficiency in SolidWorks particularly the Routing tool for piping and tubingSolid understanding of P&ID creation and layouts for gas water or fuel systemsExperience producing detailed technical drawing packs for manufacture including BOMsBackground in mechanical system design with a focus on fluid routing and integrationFamiliarity with aluminium and welded assemblies is beneficial but secondary to routing expertise Key Skills Mechanical Design,SOC,System Design,GD&T,CAD,Creo,SolidWorks,Mechanical Engineering,Perl,Autocad,HVAC Design,Catia Employment Type : Full Time Experience: years Vacancy: 1 Monthly Salary Salary: 50 - 50
