The Scottish Fire and Rescue Service(SFRS)isthe largest fire and rescue service in the UK and the fourth largest in the world. Our Firefighters are at the heart of our communities and work in what can be unpredictable but most certainly an exciting and rewarding role.Our frontline is supported by a hardworking team of non-uniformed staff from accountants and ICT specialists to cooks and technicians without whom we could not function.Overview:We are looking for a Networking Apprentice and the aim of this role is to contribute to the provision of a support and maintenance service within the DaTS Department. Working closely with the DaTS Network/Communications Team to ensure the availability and integrity of the Scottish Fire and Rescue Services 999 mobilising systems telecommunications systems and local area network plus all associated peripherals.This role can be based in any of the following locations: Inverness Dundee Johnstone Cambuslang and Newbridge. There will be an assessment centre day held on the 30th of October at Headquarters Westburn Dr Cambuslang Glasgow G72 7NA. Responsibilities:Learn how to maintain and repair SFRS network services in collaboration with suppliersLearn how to maintain and repair SFRS local area network equipmentLearn how to maintain and repair network systems including telephonySupport and maintenance of telephony systems local area network equipment mobile data solutions wide area network services (SDWAN) corporate WiFi provisions and perimeter security services such as firewallsProduce documentation for procedures systems and installed equipmentAttend all training and development activities as required and complete all necessary studies and qualifications to achieve a Diploma Digital Technology: IT Infrastructure SCQF level 6 progressing onto Diploma Digital Technology: Network Infrastructure SCQF Level 8You will need the following skills:Essential:National 4 Maths and English or equivalentConfident enthusiastic self-motivated and a drive to success in DaTSProactive attitude to problem solving and shows enthusiasm for learning new skillsAbility to work in a fast paced environmentA good team player and can also add value working independentlyExcellent oral and written communication skillsUndertakes work with honesty and integrityWell organised and methodical operating with pace enthusiasm and creativityDesirable:National 5 Maths and English or equivalentA clear desire for a career in DaTSA knowledge of DaTS networks and peripheralsDriving licence / willingness to travel across Scotland to meet the business needs of the national serviceSalary: 22129 per annumWorking hours: Monday to Friday 9am - 5pmBenefits:A competitive salary and attractive pension schemeA range of excellent family friendly policies including those that promote a work life balanceAccess to a wide range of employee benefitsFuture prospects:90% of QA apprentices secure permanent employment after completing: this is 20% higher than the national average.Important information:This vocational apprenticeship comprehensively supports your specific job role with this particular employer.
