There will be some days when all part-time Navigators overlap to ensure continuity and teamwork.About Good Life FrankleyBirmingham Adult Education Service (BAES)part of Birmingham City Council and the largest local-authority adult-education provider in Englandis launching Good Life Frankley a new initiative that begins by listening to residents stories and experiences and using those stories to shape what it means to live a good life in Frankley. Behind the statistics lies a powerful narrative of resilience and untapped potentialthe Frankley story of neighbours networks and shared hopes.Good Life Frankley has two intertwined aims:Practical support: helping residents re-engage with learning work and volunteering through trusted locally rooted Community Navigators.Participatory research: documenting and amplifying residents voices exploring local definitions of a good life and gathering evidence on what helps people move from economic inactivity into education and employment.We are looking for Community Navigators to bring these aims to lifetrusted connectors who will meet residents where they are rebuild confidence guide them into opportunities and help capture their experiences so that future policy and programmes are shaped from the ground up.About the RoleAs a Community Navigator you will be at the centre of Good Life Frankleys practice-and-research cycle:Enrolling at least 30 economically inactive adults into adult-education programmes and supporting them into learning volunteering or employment.Encouraging participation in adult learning including literacy numeracy and skills programmes.Providing clear and supportive information about local courses services and volunteering opportunities.Helping residents overcome barriers such as childcare transport or confidence issues.Engaging directly with residentsdoor-to-door at community events and in public spacesto build trust and relationships.Building partnerships with local groups and services to ensure learning opportunities are welcoming and inclusive.Collecting 100 stories in total conducting interviews and participating in research walks with residents.Undergoing training on research methods to ensure community voices shape the projects design and impact.Keeping accurate records sharing feedback and contributing to ongoing service improvement.Information SessionsWe will hold three information sessions at Frankley Library so that potential applicants can meet the leadership team ask questions and find out more about the project. Shortlisted candidates will:Receive the interview questions in advance to help you prepare.Be invited to summarise your approach to key questions about community engagement barriers to learning and your local knowledge.We may also invite you to lead us on a short research walk in your neighbourhood so you can show us local assets challenges and opportunities from your perspective.What You Will NeedA passion for the community and a genuine commitment to bringing its stories to life.Ability to work collaboratively and build meaningful relationships with residents partners and stakeholders.Local knowledge and insight ideally gained by living in Frankley for at least seven years.Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to connect with individuals facing social or economic challenges.A good standard of spoken and written English.Experience working or volunteering in a community setting.Competence in using digital tools including email social media and Microsoft Office.Knowledge of local services referral pathways and safeguarding responsibilities.Please upload an up-to-date CV and Personal Statement via the attachments part of your application.
