Job Title: Assistant Accountant Location: Border area of South Tyneside and County Durham Job Overview: Our client is seeking a detail-oriented and motivated Assistant Accountant to join their finance team. This role, based in the border area between South Tyneside and County Durham, will support the finance department in various financial tasks and contribute to the accuracy and efficiency of our financial operations. Key Responsibilities:   
  • Assist in preparing monthly management accounts and financial reports
  • Process accounts payable and accounts receivable
  • Reconcile bank statements and other financial accounts
  • Support with payroll processing and related tasks
  • Assist in the preparation of VAT returns
  • Help with year-end financial close processes and audit preparation
  • Maintain accurate financial records and filing systems
  • Perform data entry and update financial databases
  • Assist with budgeting and forecasting activities
  • Support senior accountants with ad-hoc financial analysis and projects
Requirements: 
  • AAT qualified or studying towards
  • 1-2 years of experience in a similar role (preferred but not essential)
  • Strong knowledge of accounting principles and practices
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and familiarity with accounting software
  • Excellent attention to detail and accuracy
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Strong organizational and time management skills
