This is a unique role within the highly collaborative Human Factors & Usability team at Crux. Crux is a multi-disciplinary consultancy with a focus on the development of medical devices and FMCG products. Our staff hold an array of skills including human factors experts, designers, and engineers – giving the opportunity to work on large-scale development projects as well as human factors and usability specific projects.


We are advertising for a Senior Human Factors Engineer role with a focus on the planning, study execution, and reporting for human factors and usability related projects.

At a senior level, you will have the opportunity to mentor team members, actively guiding their progression, and helping to develop best practices in human factors and usability.


Principal Responsibilities


  • Leading full usability programmes strategised to meet client and project objectives.
  • Consistently and independently producing high-quality deliverables that meet client expectations to Crux standards.
  • Expert understanding of Human Factors as a discipline, including user needs, best practices, and up-to-date regulatory framework.
  • Taking ownership of ensuring usability is kept at the core of product development by identifying needs and actively supporting the resolution of these challenges.
  • Building trusted relationships within existing client accounts and pursuing opportunities and referrals for selling usability services into these accounts.
  • Supporting business development through attending sales meetings and generating proposals in response to client communication.
  • Deliver quality stakeholder management by confidently communicating the value of Human Factors and your work to colleagues and clients.
  • Promoting awareness of usability within the business and helping to promote Crux’s growing in-house Human Factors capabilities.
  • Taking responsibility for maintaining Crux’s HF processes and keeping practices up-to-date.
  • Identifying and pursuing personal development areas and sharing new knowledge and skills with the team.
  • Seeking out team capability development and thought leadership opportunities to ensure Crux Human Factors’ competitiveness.
  • Developing and mentoring team members.
  • Support Crux’s continual development by raising any suggestions or ideas you might have for improvement.
  • Comply with all company Health and Safety and Quality Management policies and procedures in order to ensure that the performance of daily duties does not endanger fellow employees, visitors, contractors or any member of the general public.
  • Carry out any reasonable task requested by the company in the course of performing your daily duties and within contracted working hours.


What We’re Looking For…


Essential:

  • Educated in a human factors related subject (Product Design, Engineering, Psychology)
  • 2+ years applying human factors in a highly regulated sector


Desirable:

  • Experience applying FDA human factors guidance and EU MDR requirements.
  • Conference speaking/publication experience
  • CIEHF registered membership
  • Consultancy experience
  • Line management experience
  • Experience within multi-disciplinary teams for project delivery
