Section 2 - Purpose of Job

  • Support the design, development and maintenance of the client analytics database to be used in EMEA by all Departments for Client Strategy & planning purposes, and those client analytics to also be used in the capital allocation decision making process.
  • Provide data analysis and interpretation to all Departments to highlight revenue opportunities or KPIs at both a client and portfolio level.
  • Prepare management information reports/presentations in order to ensure that superiors have the relevant information needed to support operational and strategic decision-making.
Section 3 - Background
  • Support and shape delivery of client reporting capability across EMEA with a focus on delivering insight and analytics at both a client and portfolio level;
  • The role is seen as a pivotal source of client KPIs to support BAU, strategic and project-based activities across EMEA;
  • The role requires interaction and collaboration with global Portfolio Strategy teams based in all regions;
  • Role provides technical bridge between Front Office and the bank reporting systems and contributes a blend of business and accounting knowledge as well as a strong understanding of system data flows, data structures and other analytical skills;
  • Support the Front Office by producing regular and ad-hoc reporting and analysis.
Section 4 - Facts / Scale
  • The role is responsible for the oversight of a large volume of data and also highly complex return methodologies.
  • The role has a primary focus on supporting the wider Portfolio Strategy team alongside the Front Office.
  • The role requires a strong interface / liaison with Front Office, PD, CD, RMD, F&C and JRIE.
  • This role requires understanding of all the core systems and processes within own area, and how they link with other systems within the Bank.
Section 5 - Accountabilities & Responsibilities
  • Support the process design and data flows for the provision of client metrics;
  • Produce regular client & portfolio reports, in addition to ad-hoc reports;
  • Ensure data quality and data governance is applied to client metrics and assist other departments responsible for data and systems used by the Portfolio Strategy team;
  • Provide technical accounting interpretation and analysis including financial forecasting / modelling;
  • Ensure core deliverables are produced on time and to spec by monitoring development progress, providing guidance and technical oversight and in preparing, executing and signing off UAT.
  • Deliver innovation and efficiencies across the Bank through business process reengineering (BPR), automation, process / reporting simplification and proactive identification of opportunities to enhance reporting capabilities across EMEA;
  • Ensure there is coordination between processes in EMEA and those in place in other Portfolio Strategy teams across the globe, sharing best practice;
  • Business partnering through provision of training, technical guidance and data analysis across a broad spectrum of stakeholders and business units.
Section 6 - Knowledge, Skills, Experience & Qualifications
  • Strong numerical and financial skills with the ability to interpret financial information and able to design and use financial models;
  • Strong technical skills in data extraction and analysis techniques including PowerBI, Tableau, Wallet Data (Dealogic, Coalition), SQL, MS Access and MS Excel;
  • Proven track record documenting, actioning and testing change requests;
  • Strong communication skills and is comfortable presenting in front of various audiences.
  • Familiarity with IFRS and JGAAP reporting standards;
  • Relevant technical degree-level education with a preference toward accounting / financial and / or mathematical disciplines;
  • Prior management accounting experience is advantageous;
  • Prior experience working within Commercial Banking environment and familiarity with accounting treatments for vanilla banking products (incl. derivatives).

  • Manage multiple concurrent (and unexpected) workloads and manage prioritisation of delivery and stakeholder expectations accordingly;
  • Collaborate with colleagues across multiple disciplines and geographic locations;
  • Provide direction and support to other team members and non-finance technical developers;
  • Be resilient toward business change (including team member rotation) and accept not all assigned work is achievable and that some deliverables may not move at the expected pace due to business bottlenecks.
