Play Away Day Nursery - Southampton City are looking for a Nursery Third in Charge/Room Leader to assist management in providing the highest standard of compliance, care and education for children, and effectively manage daily operations of the nursery, including positive partnerships with staff and parents

About us:

We are situated at the foor of Itchen bridge and a short walk from Ocean Village Marina and Itchen river which provides fantatsic views They are a 30minute walk from the train station and are also on a bus route providing easy access to the nursery if you do not drive. Our building is purpose built and is registered to hold up to 102 children a day. The Nursery consists of 4 main play rooms aswell as an additional centre room which is used as a sensory room. As a nursery we celebrate our staff’s individuality embedding staff strengths, culture, and inspirations into our curriculum. Staff receive acknowledgement for their achievements and enjoy a large staff room to unwind in with games and positivity jars. The nursery prides itself on building a culture of teamwork, togetherness, and support. This is reflected in the staff team’s dedication and length of service with most staff ranging from 5-20 years at the nursery.

As a Nursery Third in Charge, you will:

Provide stimulating and purposeful experiences, environments and resources to children, that are appropriate to their age and stage of development

Enhance the all-around daily needs of children, including their physical, intellectual, social and emotional development

Assist staff in updating the EyLog system and their child learning journals with the highest quality

Promote respect and credibility for this position by leading as a role model with impartiality and consistency

Assist with embedding an effective key person approach to enable children to form secure attachments and identify training or development needs for staff

Maintain accurate records and accounts relating to children and staff on EyMan system and on file

Ensure the safety and wellbeing of every child, staff, parent and visitor at all times

Understand and ensure that the requirements of the statutory framework for the EYFS are met

As a Nursery Third in Charge, you will need:

Full and relevant Level 3 in Childcare qualification - Essential

Over 1 year’s experience working in Early Years - Essential

Over 6 months’ experience working in a senior position - Desirable

Sound knowledge of Ofsted expectations to achieve a Good or Outstanding rating - Desirable

Knowledge of the statutory framework for the EYFS and regulatory requirements - Essential

Fluent in written and spoken English - Essential
