London, United Kingdom THE KINGS FUND Full time

External Affairs Officer For over a century, The King’s Fund has worked to improve people’s health and care. We tackle the thorniest questions facing our health and care system, and in turn society. We do this through our research, analysis and insight; leadership and organisational development with health and care leaders; convening and events; and partnering with others. With bold thinking for better health, we’re on a mission to inspire hope and confidence that we can create a world where everyone lives a healthy life. About the role The External Affairs Officer role is an opportunity to join our dynamic and fast-paced team working on issues at the top of the political agenda. The King’s Fund has a strong presence in the media, a respected voice in parliament, and extensive connections across the health and care sectors. With the nation’s health worsening, health and care services facing challenges on multiple fronts, and the government embarking on an extensive reform agenda as it implements its 10 Year Health Plan, we are looking for an External Affairs Officer to join our team and help ensure our work has even more impact. The successful applicant will be the first line of response for The King’s Fund’s busy press office, dealing with multiple inquiries a day via phone and email, and monitoring the news agenda. They will work closely with colleagues across the organisation on high profile issues and engage directly with journalists and external stakeholders. They will also scan the external environment for relevant upcoming events as well as keep track of key developments, and share that information with colleagues across the team and organisation. In addition, this post plays a critical role in overseeing and improving key processes that keep the External Affairs team working effectively and efficiently. This is a varied and exciting role at the heart of our busy communications and engagement function. We are seeking candidates with experience in working in a busy, high-functioning communications role and the ability to develop strong working relationships with clients and stakeholders. In return, we are offering the opportunity to work on some of the biggest policy issues facing the nation, working alongside leading experts in a friendly and supportive charity. The Fund is committed to a hybrid working model that meets the organisation’s needs, while giving staff flexibility to choose between office and home working. Staff are expected to work a minimum of 40% from our central London office and are free to work more days from the office if they prefer.
