The expected salary range for this role reflects internal benchmarking and external market insights.PURPOSE OF THE ROLE Our Bitesize team is currently looking for a Software Engineering Team lead to help them develop the future of their beloved education product. We are in an exciting time where we are looking to evolve Bitesize so it adapts to our user needs. Making sure we are delivering the curriculum aligned content needed by students teachers and parents to support them in their learning journey. This team lead will be supporting our Glasgow team as they develop some of these critical features and capabilities. Guiding engineers to do their best work supporting their career aspirations while also working closely with other discipline leads and our editorial stakeholders. The team lead is critical to making sure we are delivering high-quality sustainable solutions to meet our user needs. The focus of the role includes: People: Recruit mentor coach and manage staff assuring the quality of their work and professional development. Environment: Create the environment in which people can be their best. This will involve working with department leaders to create a positive and diverse working culture and working with peers to create continuity and alignment across the teams. Technical Expertise: Work across the technical community to improve our software share knowledge and improve processes / practices when developing software. User Focus: Delivering solutions for our users is paramount for us and as a Software Engineering Team Lead you will be key to making sure we are bringing solutions that meet the needs of the people we serve.YOUR SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE ESSENTIAL CRITERIA Track record of growing engineers with a focus on mentoring coaching and development Experience of building user-facing accessible front-end products using web technologies like React Typescript NodeJS. Experience of working with and building APIs and Back-end services using a range of AWS technologies like: Lambda API Gateway SQS Cloud Formation. Skilled in dealing with multiple product and technical priorities with a focus on practical decision making in a collaborative cross discipline team. Experience of measuring shaping and improving agile practices in a software development team to ensure continuous delivery is achieved.DESIRED: Experience of working on large mono-repo products backed by design systems. Leading a teams approach on operational stability and incident management.
